Has anyone else noticed that Lidl don't have any mince pies, Christmas puddings or Christmas cakes this year?

Their mince pies are usually really nice. :(

Apparently they have put out a notice to say mince pies and Christmas puddings won't be available this year. Very poor
for such a large company. Also, have you noticed their smoked salmon at 7.99euros for 300g was only available for a few days?

Were they involved in the sale of the ersatz salmon (cheaper trout ... packaged and marketed as salmon, as reported in the news) which was 'recalled' recently ?

I doubt it very much! However on a rare foray to Philippos this week I noticed they had some of the recalled smoked fish on sale, although I didn't inspect it I only recognised the packaging so it may have been the replacement proper salmon as opposed to the trout!!

Lidl also seem to be very short of 'Christmas' foods like their 3 bird roast; stuffed pork; stuffed salmon; wild boar etc etc

As an aside, has anyone tried the Barolo they have on offer currently?

Try Jim Peck Butchery or Kolios Butchery ... both excellent for meats and much more. You might pay a little more ... but the quality is first class :greetings

The Lidl Barolo is available most of the year. I find it a perfect accompaniment to a 350g Kolios rib-eye. Let it breathe before drinking!!
