I have noticed recently a greater awareness of 'trophy' hunting in social media etc with much more exposure. I am firmly against this form of hunting especially where any animal has a limited stock and causes no problem to the local community.

Even politicians are mixed up with this, can it be stoped or just driven further underground?

So agree with you Tanny. Think the social media stuff is coming from the clowns who want to post pics of themselves with their 'trophies'. Doesn't impress me one iota, quite the reverse actually, they just look like self centred idiots, and that usually seems like the tenor of responses.

My thoughts are that these 'nerds' are simply demonstrating their ample lack of brain matter. Sadly, this doesn't help the poor animals they have 'bravely' killed.

I'm sure many of us would love to be facing said clowns with a loaded 12 bore.

Isn't the problem Poaching not trophy hunting?

The money generated by trophy hunting (generally ) goes back into conservation and education and the animals killed are selected to keep the numbers to a sustainable level.

Poaching is indiscriminate and the poachers are just out to kill as many as possible in a short a time as possible.

Even organised hunting for the purpose of control etc should not be promoted with any form of trophy display or similar. Control can be carried out in a much more discrete way under the watchful eye of the relevant authority. These trophy hunters travel to so called third world countries as they wouldn't get away with it so easily in their own back yard.

Roll on the day a Lion goes for the trophy kill and gets a Trump or two or any of the boastful idiots we now see exposed on social media.

"Control" of wildlife cost money that governments of those countries can ill afford or are reluctant to fund. Trophy hunters pay lots of money for the privilege of killing the animal and I doubt the animal aware of who killed it.
The meat is distributed to locals and the shooter gets his trophy, I dont see the problem.

Trophy hunters are usually accompanied by local wardens who check the animal has a clean kill.
Poachers on the other hand will sometimes deliberately maim an animal to stop it running away and kill it a close quarters.
