At this time of year especially it seems every man & his dog is getting their property maintenance done, our residential area is unfortunately not an exception.
Are there any sort of laws governing the 'working day' for tradesmen employed to do work (i.e.starting & finishing times, weekend work etc.), as we have been awakened sometimes as early as 0700hrs?

WOW, you get to sleep till 0700hrs before they start!! Currently in my area they are building 3 villas and clearing part of a banana plantation beside the new build....unfortunately they have 2 lighting rigs and frequently start throwing scaffolding poles, hammering or firing up chainsaws as early as 0500hrs :bat

Sounds like anything in Cyprus... not just the construction industry. (I use the term loosely, as it could never be called industrious)

I live on the edge of Sea caves and have the noise from the new development at Cap St George starts about 7am and goes on till dusk, fortunately dusk is now earlier.

Dare I mention that Turkey seem to have their construction industry under reasonable control, as work is not allowed on new build during the 'tourist season' - April through September each year.
Might be a step in the right direction if it were imposed here, the impact to already overlong construction schedules might be an outcome issue however.

At present they are building extra floors on top of the Laura hotel and there is a lot of clanking and banging all day long, fortunately it isn't very loud and not a problem, what is a problem is for 6 or 7 months , 24/7 their ac unit on the roof drones and whines away, you hear it at the front of the house ,the rear , downstairs, in bed and what is worse it is almost the same frequency as my tinnitus, lets hope with all the investment they also fit a a hood to the compressor unit to reflect the noise out to sea.

A word in the local council office or Muktar's ear may be the way forward if they're starting work before the allocated time of 07:00hrs.... other than that, I doubt there's nowt else you can do about it.
Unless you fancy going down the long and exhausting route of a lawsuit?
