morning all,
I'm having a problem getting online using my Google Chrome browser on my laptop.
I have no problem picking up the internet on the laptop but it goes directly to Explorer everyme,
I never use Explorer so have none of my bookmarks etc in it.
I haven't changed any settings, it's just happened. So, in a nutshell can anyone help me and my laptop
get Chrome working again on my laptop. Help!
Many thanks.

Courtesy of Google.

1. On your computer, open Chrome.

2. In the top right, click More.

3. Click Settings.

4. In the "Default browser" section, click Make Google Chrome the default browser. If you don't see the button, Google Chrome is already your default browser.

Thanks Effsie, I tried it after you said, but it still didn't work. The laptop kept saying DNS? not found, so I googled that and followed instructions, it's now back on minus my bookmarks though. Grrrr.

Now you know why so many of us still use Internet Explorer!

I totally agree with what you say Amos. Tried Google Chrome some time ago, and it was awful, and seemed to slow
everything down, so removed it. As you rightly say, Internet Explorer is much better.

Possibly automatic updates reconfigured your machine to suit Microsoft, they do that stuff!

If so, then they can carry on as far as I am concerned.
If it works, why fix it?

Because 3rd party browsers offer functionality and security that Microsoft products may not. In the case of Chrome, on-the-fly translation of web pages alone is worth it.

Since Windows 10 set itself up on our computer, it has not been the same. Outlook seems to want to take over our lives.

How can I get Adblock on internet explorer I get 99 per cent there and then it does not appear on the bar at the top of the page.

Emgeeb your feelings about Windows are exactly why I moved to Linux a few years ago. Windows tends to dictate how and where you do things and there is a background of security to prevent unregistered software being used, it should be remembered you don't own your copy of Windows, you have only purchased a limited licence for its use, which is why Microsoft remains in control of some aspects of your computer, excellent marketing ! By contrast because Linux is open source it has none of this paranoia code and it is a breath of fresh air to install and use. Linux is not for every one but it suits me.
Exodus, "if it works dont fix it" the point of the thread is that it was not working ! Well not the way he wanted it too !

Mouse:
His problem (Original Post) was with Google Chrome, NOT with Internet Explorer.

I assumed, perhaps wrongly, that chrome was working and then stopped. I had past experience where a windows update disabled firefox , installed/activated explorer and made it the default browser and also altered some of my settings, it was this experience on which I based my comments.
