Just heard that the police have found 40 guns held by the crazed idiot both at the scene of the crime and at his home. How can anyone buy that amount of guns and still not be on the radar? America should stop lecturing the rest of the world and get their own house in order.
God bless all those who have lost their lives and those injured.

Paul

Well I doubt Trump will do anything about gun control seeing that the National Rifle Association gave him $30 million towards his election.

The gun lobby are so strong nothing will change and it will happen again and again and just get bigger incidents. Maybe if we boycotted and it hit them in the pocket then maybe somebody would do something .. I doubt it very much and the killing will continue. Unfortunately its the innocent who always suffer.

I've given up getting my knickers in a knot over the USA and their lack of gun control. I've come to the conclusion there are just some very stupid people who cannot see past their nose.

It's very sad there are some sensible ones too but they don't have enough voices to tell the others their thought process is all wrong....

Trumps spokesperson, said poker faced, 'now is not the time to talk about gun control' so when is the time, never? The gun lobby is so powerful they have him wrapped around their little finger. So far this year there have been 276 mass shootings in good old USA; that is incidents where more than 3 people have been killed or shot to death as they say! Since 1970 the gun related death toll is greater than the USA has lost in all wars, it has become a fact of live and people have now become sanitised. I would not like to be a child growing up in the USA your chances of becoming a gun victim are about 40% higher than an adults. However tighter controls have not worked in some places, some people say education, others stricter laws, I think they need to get their act together and hope they find a solution to this nightmare!

StevieB, rather than sanitised I would say normalised.

However its not all down to the guns, its now way too late to create meaningful control in the USA. There is many countries in the world with a high percentage of gun ownership (Cyprus amongst them) and we do not see the same evidence of mass shootings. A whole lot of it comes down to the mentality, stress, inability to express (and allowed to express) venting.

If you give a nutter a gun he will shoot, if you give a nutter an iced cream cone he will go find a gun, machete or similar.

The Americans are 'off their rockers' insular fruitcakes and frankly the sooner someone walks into the senate, house of reps, the hidden banks and similar with their iced cream cones the better.

Normal or normalised; I suppose you are correct as in SNAFU. Which sums the gun situation in the USA. :pint

I cannot comprehend why a succesfull wealthy person would want to vent his spleen on a crowd of innocent people?
It may be that by the law of averages, he thought there were a large proportion who were bankers or politicians - now that I can understand!

I visit the USA often, and basically they haven't changed from their Cowboy past, good guy v bad guy, you will never change their need to own guns.
