Hi PP,
I am flying out to Cyprus on Wednesday to support my mum as she is unwell. It is the first time i have ever been away from my children and i can't even think about it without getting the old ache in my heart, so i have decided on a bit of escapism, i am going to treat myself to a good read for the few days i'm there, so i just wondered if you can recommend anything you might have read, nothing depressing though please! Thanks

Emma

Hi Emma
Last time I was out in Cyprus (in March) I read 'Anybody Out There' by Marian Keyes - loved it, her best book yet. I'm also flying out on Wednesday to our place in Peyia, can't wait !

emma,
the last 2 books i read were

we need to talk about kevin

the lovely bones

anything by jodi picoult is a good read in my opinion

unfortunately they are all quite intense and maybe not what you are looking for but are all good reads especially if you are wanting to spend time with your mum, i generally pick a book up and abandoned all housework and motherly duties till ive finished them unless i get a quiet night at work....... then i am not much company!!!

if you are anything like me and need a quick fix on gossip but want to be able to put it down, go out and buy a selection of magazines, but put them in your case or you will read them on the plane!!!

Hi Emma,

I always find something that just takes my fancy to read at the airport shops on my way out. I think that it depends on your mood at the time really and you can browse whilst waiting for the flight and it passes your time. It will take your mind off the fact that you are going without the children and I am sure you will find something that just hits the spot for you. Perhaps an Autobiography of some celebrity like Jordan or a sports person.

I hope that you find your Mum a little better and you are so kind to give her your time and company in her time of need.

Emma ~ Hope your mum is soon feeling much better. All the better for you going out to her. Anything by Maya Angelou - I think there are about 8 books in her autobiography series. She is a great and inspirational writer and cheers you with her words. She was a woman that suffered great adversity but came through it all. She is now a world renowned guru in motivational speaking/writing etc as well as a famous actress, singer, etc etc. :manic

Thanks for all your recommendations PP's!
I think perhaps i will borrow a few from friends and then treat myself at the airport. Perhaps something by Martina Cole or an auto biography but i will wait and see what i feel like at the time. Thanks for your kind words about my mum.

Emma
