Give your insurance broker a call, they should be able to answer that hopefully.

The breakdown recovery provided by your insurance company usually only takes you from your original breakdown to the garage of your choice, any further moves would be at your own expense by arrangement with someone with a tow truck which can be very expensive!

Could it just be that your garage is unable to source the items etc in order to be able to price up the job for you? It's August and at this time of the year many places close down for 2 weeks. It's an impossible situation if you get caught up in it....

One of the girls I used to work with had her gearbox go at the start of August when I was still in Cyprus in the summer of 2015 - she finally got her jeep back three weeks later because her garage couldn't get the parts from the main dealers in Nicosia until they reopened.
