Thursday I was Shopping in Philippos near Coral bay, I am often amazed by the dress standards of some tourists when they are in there, I watched the security man escort a rather well endowed lady out of the store.
She was wearing a see through net throw over a bikini bottom and no top, and it was see through nothing was left to the imagination, the woman in question was causing a scene by loudly arguing that she could see nothing wrong (Brit).
There were children with their parents and the noise drew people attention to the issue, I am no prude far from it, I like any person likes to admire and see a good looking female or if you are female a good looking man but there are is no place in a super market for that type of attire, what have tourists become, is it I am on holiday I do not care or is there no decency anymore.

If it was a nice shapely body then its acceptable to me.

If its mutton dressed as Lamb then it should cover up!!!!

Just my thoughts, and Yes I am the official Paphos Ugly Police....

Hurrah for common sense lowvoltage. It always disgusts me that people(normally men) will walk into a supermarket, sometimes dripping with sweat, stripped to the waist, and put their bodies over where food is. Would they do the same in Tesco in Hampstead, because it is usually British that do it. Also, when will a restaurant have the guts to prevent men from entering without a top on. How horrible that they sit on a seat with a sweaty, oily back, and leave the residue behind after they leave, so that the next unsuspecting customer gets that smelly mess on their decent clothes.

Cyprus used to be an expensive place to visit so did not generally attract the type of people that it now does with the advent of all inclusive, package holidays etc.
If that sounds snobby then so be it, I think it is a total lack of any decency, manners ,or consideration for others.
I used to loathe going into Philippos in particular to have to see fat sweaty partially clothed men and woman dripping all over the veg and bread etc.
You don't see Cypriots walking around shops and restaurants dressed like that, they have too much class.
It used to make me embarrassed to be British and I tried to avoid them like the plague and on occasion have even apologised on their behalf.

Well done those security guys!! I wish more people would dress with decorum and decency aswell as for the figure they ACTUALLY have as opposed to the figure they WISH they had!!

I am glad to see several bars now requesting patrons to wear a top, no top no service. Not the first time someone has done the shopping without a top on not only is it very unsightly as well as unhygienic.
Just my viewpoint :crazydance :crazydance

But joking aside, yes I agree it is vile what some tourists think is an acceptable dress code in the supermarket or restaurants.

And why oh why do they have to take the entire family into the supermarket to buy provisions? Gawping at the cheap booze, blocking the isles and always being followed around by 5 y/o Chlamydia carrying two 'noodles' for the pool and knocking everything off the top shelves with them...?

Sadly CyprusGrump, there's a problem with the image you posted - photobucket made changes recently which has caused a bit of an uproar: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-40492668

But all shops, high streets, bars and restaurants should get with this idea:

Ah yes, I forgot - thanks for the reminder - they want me to pay $300 per year to allow hot linking... has caused some issues at my own forum.

Will edit now...

I have seen an employee at McDonalds in Limassol ask a male customer who was queuing but not wearing a top, to leave the building or put on a top.

I wish more shops would enforce the rule though especially when they actually have a notice on the door about it (ie Papantoniou supermarkets!) but do jack all about it!

Would these tourists honestly dress like that to shop at their local Tesco in the UK?

Who wants sweaty droplets on their veg or bread FFS?

Unfortunately standards of behaviour and language are dropping everywhere. We even had drunken pikies stripping off down to their beer bellies for a square go at Ascot recently

We constantly see people behaving like spoilt, ignorant brats on reality TV where being a foul mouthed idiot seems to be an "advantage", we see them in almost sub human guise on Jeremy Kyle and scarcely a day goes by without reports of drunken Brits causing a punch up on in flight planes

They don't have the manners or decency to moderate their behaviour and care not a jot about what other people think about it or how it adversely affects those around them and unfortunately that is the future- there is nothing going to turn the clock back to a time where a bit of humility and good manners were socially an advantage. These days the bigger and shinier the brass neck the better

Sadly this is the modern world and the comments made by most are very true to life, the last post by Ilex about sums it all up there is no solution unless shops and stores get on board and stop it, the other side of the coin is shops and stores want the custom and are prepared to turn a blind eye.

Yes, just back from the UK saw it myself, I have seen people sneeze over a village bread display, not Brits by the way.
