Just been speaking to an old friend in Northumberland. It has been rained there for the past 9 hours and is forecast to continue for another 6 hours. It is 13oC and he has his central heating turned on! I KNOW WHERE I'D RATHER BE !!!

it was stiflingly hot

2 ladies have died in Nicosia hospital, one aged 79 yrs old one aged 60 from heat stroke

We decided to shutter off our windows as the window panes where becoming like radiators.
The air temps in our garden in the shade reached 120 degrees F ...50 C

So we stayed indoors during the worst bits of sunshine, drank a re hydrate each day

Just chilled out taking siestas with cold showers in between was the order of our days

we then came out in the evening when the sun went off the villa

and enjoyed the evenings

it has been a hot one

stay safe all

and this now weather is amazing in comparison and very welcome

I went for a 94K bicycle ride on Sunday and enjoyed every minute of it, far better than what I used to get in the UK, drenched and cold fingers and toes.
Must admit it, it was hotter than I would have liked but still I just love it here.

I live in Northumberland now birdseye and you are quite correct to say Tuesday was a miserable day although our house is so well insulated that we certainly did not need the heating on! Today and most days it is about 20 degrees and when we have a wet day we normally have a sunny day the next. I do live near the coast though. I love it here and the weather and the beautiful warm houses suits me much better than Cyprus but it certainly would not do if we were all the same.In fact it was the intense heat of last year that enforced our decision to return to the UK after 10 years.
