Can anyone actually remember when crisp packets for salt n vinegar and cheese and onion had the colours changed. I seem to remember from some foggy part of my memory it was an Americanism the same as marathon to snickers etc. Goddam these Americans.

I am so ancient I can remember Smiths crisps with a little blue bag of salt inside! Oh joy, crisps have not been the same since.
Just like Fish and Chips have never tasted as good as when they were cooked in dripping and wrapped in newspaper!
Highland toffee penny chews and Barrets sweet cigarettes and liquorice pipes also a firm favourite.

My Grandfather used to run the bar at the local Police Station in the 60's, having retired as a policeman himself.

In the days before flavoured crisps, when a Policeman ordered some crisps with his pint, he would untwist the blue paper to add the salt, then pick up a bottle of Worcestershire Sauce that my Grandfather kept on the bar, and put two or three hefty shakes of sauce in the packet before consuming them.

Certainly made them quite piquant, I seem to recall!
