Does anyone know of a Vet who specialises in Reptile animals to examine a Tortoise who is not eating?
Any help appreciated.
Thank you.

We took ours to Paphiakos, near the new Mall in Paphos (x-rays, injections & medication).
I hope that is not too far for you to travel from Theletra (maybe during a shopping trip ?).

Maybe an idea to ask Paphos zoo who they use as I doubt that the Paphiakos Vets have any more specialised knowledge than any other vet.

There may be other qualified vets, Poppytim ....
But I just gave Ruth ( who is asking for help) a 'qualified' suggestion (mine ! .... due to personal experience).
I do not 'doubt' Paphiakos's care of the pets I already own.

Thank you both for your advice. Have discovered that the Vet for Paphos Zoo is Dr. Chris at CYVets. My friend [who owns the Tortoise] is going to the Dentist above CYVets this afternoon so will pop in and see Dr Chris. Very fortuitous for her.
Thank you again

P.S. Go down to Paphos once a week and The Mall about once a fortnight - a half hour drive - a little longer with the diversion!

Dr. Chris is good, Ruth.
He used to be Paphiakos's resident vet, for several years .... until he opened his own practice at CYVets.
Good luck to the little pet ! :bearhug

SFD I think you took my post the wrong way. I have nothing against the Vets at Paphiakos at all in fact I have had no dealings with them for several years since they looked after a rescue dog thatI had found. My suggestoon was purely to find the most experienced Vet to deal with a tortoise and indeed for this purpose I would not have recommended the excellent Vet that I used for many years. but rather a Vet who was more experienced in more exotic animals .

Just as I gave Ruth a personal recommendation for the help she required, your reply was ....
Poppytim quote :- "as I doubt that the Paphiakos Vets have any more specialised knowledge than any other vet."
Now you find that she may use a previous employee of Paphiakos, who also is used by the zoo ....
So you attempt to 'back-track' ? :doh

Not at all! Dr Chris used to work for Paphiakos as I know and he was there when I had my first rescue dog from them over 8 years ago. Apparently he is the Vet for the zoo and is experienced with unusual species and therefore appears to be the right person to recommend. There may well be someone at Paphiakos who has the same knowledge and experience but it is doubtful and as I pointed out it is doubtful that my own excellent Vet would have the same experience too.I believe that many of the vets at Paphiakos are on a type of secondment to gain knowledge and experience - nothing wrong with that .. I think you are being a tad sensitive as all we were both trying to do was help find the best person for the job.

Apart from 'seasoned' vets, some of whom have not kept up with advancing technology ....
Young vets, au fait with the advances in science, and just gaining practical experience on their final leg to full qualification .... Your doubts do not hold water.
Sensitivity does not necessarily equate with logic.
