Received an email from UK last night and the title was vote for me, Look at the person seated because on Friday he might be your new PM along with the rest of the crazy gang.

I understand the conversation [after shaking hands] went

Terrorist: "How are you Ma'am?"

EIIR: "Well, I am still alive"

Trolling level = Imperial

Margaret Thatcher was also linked with granting pardons to IRA terrorists - I didn't hear much shouting about that from certain parties....

Hey, but never mind Saint Theresa will continue shaking hands and cutting deals with the good Saudi folks. What's a bit more spilt blood in the whole scheme of things?

He claims that now...

But he wasn't, he was an apologist for the IRA (and other terrorist groups)...

No matter what party she comes from, this is second major gaff she has made and is obviously inept at her job, what concerns me is her leader thinks she is OK.

I despair that this woman could be in power.

We'll agree to disagree Fylde Filly.

I'm upset that I cannot vote as I am in USA and I wasn't home from Cyprus in time to register for a postal vote.
I went down to the Returning officers' Office with my papers 2 weeks ago. I was told that even though the statute for postal voting registration says 10 days before any election, I was too late as they had too many applications to process.

I wonder if there is anyone I can complain to as I think this could be illegal.

I don't suppose it's got anything to do with the fact that the woman in the office was also wearing a Vote Labour badge. This may be illegal as well!!

Probably along with around 400 ballot papers that haven't been delivered to a certain conservative controlled constituency in UK. Apparently, they've all got lost in the mail......

Now, if that had happened in Cyprus, I just may have been inclined to believe it ;)

Well, at least we got our voting papers in Cyprus. Winning votes have just got back to the UK. :-)

But do you know that it cost £2.17 each to send them to us ? Let alone the cost of admin., paper and return (Freepost).
Isn't it time to get into the 21st Century and vote by internet ? Surely encryption could be activated for security !

I was involved in a very successful trial 15 years ago that involved printing a one time password on your voting card, trialled it in a couple of trials for local council districts. All went really smoothly and we had the result literally within seconds of the polls closing.

There was never any real appetite for it amongst politicians and political parties, for no reasons ever stated, although I suspect because

a) It was impossible to rig if the electoral roll was accurate

b) That a cheap reliable system giving ordinary people access to a local democratic process which could be used at any level of granularity at virtually no incremental cost was not the sort of local democracy politicians are interested in supplying.

may have had something to do with it

anyway, it got put in 'a report' and therefore suffered the fate of most projects which made politicians more accountable and disappeared without a trace

Flylde Filly - I like Victoria Derbyshire generally but I have e mailed and messaged on facebook re that interview because she was bloody driving at the time! She kept taking her eyes off the road ,most of the time she only had one hand on the wheel. It certainly does not set a good example. They have replied to me basically just acknowledging my message.
Re Diane Abbot , I am reluctant to say this but both myself and my husband think that she may be displaying the signs of early onset Alzheimers? She certainly seems vague and disoriented.

Bossy Boots - I had this discussion a few weeks ago.....

Even with hands free, the person taking the call takes their eyes off the road and their hands off the wheel.

However, it all fell on deaf ears on both of the Paphos based forum sites I use, so good luck with that!

As for Diane Abbott, yes - she's certainly a liability at the moment, but she isn't going to be the PM. Maybe she will get a sideways move ;-)

Abbott as an x girl friend to Corbyn she won,t be fired".....she is absolutely NOT fit or intelligent enough to hold ANY POST...she is horrendous and embarrassing to say the least...but Corbyn continues to back her completely...this of course builds loads of confidence in all of us voters ...NOT!

And Corbyn...well least said the better!

I would have been tempted by Andy Burnham

But CORBYN...a definite turn off along with Abbott they are like a comedy duo act!

Whatever sideways move she may get will still be a 'shadow' one as Corbyn stands NO chance of being elected. I'm not a rich person but I would put money on that!

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, this is yours.

Some people feel the same way about the dragon lady and her multi millionaire husband, who is capitalising on inside information. Still, she does wear nice necklaces.

For those who are looking for a bet, here are the current ‘odds’ to win
Conservatives 1/12
Labour 6/1
Lib Dems 1000/1
UKIP 1000/1
Greens 2000/1

Are you aware of her illness, then? Maybe you could enlighten the rest of us.

Let us just hope that you never get sick, eh!! It would not be very nice when other members start making post as cynical as yours.

I am no fan of Diane Abbot, as a Govt Minister she would be a disaster.
However, she is a very efficient Constituency MP and so I am sure will be re-elected.
Also she may well be genuinely ill - and until we know the actual illness it is very poor show to suggest (as some posts have) that it a get-out to avoid further criticism.
She has stood down from her brief as a shadow minister, suggesting to me it is a genuine illness.
She also takes a considerable cut in salary.
Geoff.
