Noticed that some posts go back to Nov 2007, so the forum must be almost 10 years old!!! Oh how the beard grows!

Firstly, how do any of the long term members see the progression of the forum and information contained therein.
What extravagant celebration should be planned for the forthcoming birthday.

10 years is a great milestone and should be congratulated.

I would hate to have been an administrator during that period putting up with some of the behaviour on here (including mine sometimes)

Why not just type your reply in a Word document then copy and paste it to the thread?
The Word document already has a spelling and grammar checker.

Why not just type your reply in a Word document then copy and paste it to the thread?
The Word document already has a spelling and grammar checker.

Going back to the subject!!! As Tanny says, it is indeed a huge achievement over a period of nearly 10 years. Do we
know the exact date please?

Spell checker ?
The loose interpretation of the English Language is quite worrying.
To lose the ability to spell correctly is worrying.
Is all lost ?
Should we rely on an Americanized spell-checker .... or just ignore any errors ?
Any attempt to correct anyone's poor grammar or spelling is met with derision or an embarrassed combative reply !
Should we just 'put up' with errors .... or try to preserve the English Language ?

Eye halve a spelling chequer
It came with my pea sea
It plainly marques four my revue
Miss steaks eye kin knot sea.
Eye strike a quay and type a word
And weight four it two say
Weather eye am wrong oar write
It shows me strait a weigh.

I run Safari and it has a spellchecker, but the correction is not always accurate.

Thanks for making my point in respect of my request for a spell checker M.A.D.!

It seems others would appreciate this too, rather than having to resort to Word. Maybe you should consider it 'a popular demand' & respond accordingly?

As you will see from Neil's post, there isn't a spell checker and it would be entirely up to him if there was / is...it's his show

Is it a problem to either buy an Oxford English Dictionary or just use Google (for free) to check spellings ? ..... Just open a separate tab / Google / cut & paste (if you can't remember the correct spelling) .... Job done !

I am sure there is a setting on your PC
to check all spelling for you , I just dont know how to do it
someone on here might know ,, but I cant turn it on just for the forum..

Also, access to Smilies seems to be stopped .... even though the 'Options:' states "Smilies are ON" !

Also, you cannot highlight a part of text and make it bold/italic, etc :(
It was screw dup , not just spellchecker addition...

Typing a post has slowed down, also it says some words that have typed are wrong when they are not, please return it back to normal size, if you want to spell check then use word cut and paste it is better than this.

Try typing a thread with what you know to be spelling mistakes and it SHOULD underline them in RED. If it is, right click on the word and it should offer you what it thinks you are trying to spell then left click on the appropriate word.

NB If you have 'Word' installed, make sure Spelling and Grammar are on and set for English

Maybe some should have paid more attention, at school. in English lessons ... or just preview their proposed replies here, for errors, before pressing 'submit' ?
