Does anybody know how long the markets are going to be at the harbour for
Looks a bit of an eyesore
Spoils the sea view when sat in the cafes and restaurants
And can't be good for trade for the local businesses

Most of next week. It is part of the Kataklysmos celebrations

Monday, June 5 Orthodox Whitsun / Pentecost / Kataklysmos
Pentecost (Greek word which means 'fiftieth)
Kataklysmos (50 days after Greek Easter) Kataklysmos is a Greek Orthodox festival with strong pagan roots focusing primarily on water, Kataklysmos or Festival of the Flood marks the day of the Holy Spirit. In Cyprus, the celebrations also hark back to the Old Testament tale of Noah’s Ark, the Greek myth of Deukalion and ancient ceremonies in honour of Aphrodite and Adonis

Occurs every year. Apparently it is a Cyprus thing. Sorry it spoils your view, maybe they will relocate it next year.

What a ridiculous comment - I simply avoid them like I would in any country!

Obviously not someone who has been here awhile, I think for a few days a year we can live with our host country's traditions.

I agree, and as they are only there for a short time, no harm done.

Only 14 yrs although had property for over 30 and I'm very happy thanks very much - I am married to a Cypriot, had a large Big Fat traditional Greek wedding and even he doesn't go to absolutely every so-called festival and agrees some things are just pure tat, have naff all to do with traditions and are aimed at gullible tourists!

Nearly 40 for me, but Kataklysmo has been celebrated every year that I have been here, so as I say, I think we can live with our host country's traditions.
