Having seen the post by Mirek about Paphos in 1930, I wonder does anyone else have similar old photos that might be of interest to the members.

Not photos but British Pathe have some amazing old movies from Cyprus over the years.

You can look through them from this link - http://www.britishpathe.com/search/query/cyprus

There is a great wee book on sale at the harbour called "Pafos Harbour 1974" written by Michlakis Harittou and published by Tranquility. The café (La Boite 47) beside the Marine Police / Customs office sells them. I think it cost €5 and if full of the most fantastic pictures.

Really 3 hours to Paphos from Base, which way did you go? We used to go in there in the early 70'# and I'm sure it didn't take us that long to get there, maybe Kyrenia took a bit longer as we had to wait for the U.N. convoy..

I purchased a book which was promoted some years ago in the Cyprus Mail for my husband - it's entitled "Cyprus Scenes and Way of Life in 1954" by Richard Chamberlain. It was signed and dispatched directly by the author with a little note, which was very nice touch.

The book is extremely good and has some excellent photography taken during the authors service in Cyprus. This will give you an idea of what it's about:

As I was searching for it on the internet, I came across this youtube video of an interview with the author himself:
