yet again this country makes peoples life difficult.unable to get my road tax on time, fined 50 euros.im sorry i have to work all day,and cant get to anywhere before 4.take note stupid government, open post offices saturday, and will pay on time.why should i be penalised for working?i am entering date in diary now,as taking day off will now mean shall lose days pay.same with insurance for cars, not everyone is well off to pay 300 euros straight off,all insurance companies should allow 12 monthly instalments, and guess what, less people will be driving around uninsured.is this government too stupid to understand we are not all well off,and work tirelessly to survive

Don't you know anyone who could go to the bank for you?

Doing you car tax online couldn't be any easier!

All you need are your insurance details and the 3 digit number to identify you. That will be the last 3 digits on your yellow slip, or if it is an older registration, the last 3 digits of your passport.

You can do that 24 hours a day, so I don't really think you can complain for being fined for not doing it.

No sorry, I'm not accepting this..... everyone else can manage to pay their road tax even when they are working - and it's not like you haven't had enough opportunity to do it as the deadline was extended just the same as it is every year!

I worked for the 12yrs I lived in Cyprus and always managed to pay on time by doing it online. And every company I worked for and those my friends worked for, allowed their staff time out to go to the bank to do personal stuff....

I always did our road tax online - very simple to do.

How did you pay it in the past?

Sorry but you have had since January to pay your car tax
You are not telling us that in all of those weeks you could,t get any one to assist or help you or arrange a longer lunch time to go to some where to pay?

All other workers manage to pay on time

Not having enough money to pay the tax is a different issue

And

I really hope that you are able to get a better paid job

As struggling month to month is not nice at all

if you don't like Cyprus, or the way it conducts its business, you can never say there is no choice- there are two airports and you can leave from either (provided you've paid your bills of course)

He is at it again.Remember all his other attention seeking post's. He could have paid hir road tax as there was THREE months in which to pay it. he could have given a friend the cash to pay it for him at any bank. He is a wind up merchant. :doh

I agree, find it hard to believe he did not have time in 4 months. The people running the country are not stupid, they saw and opportunity to get on the gravey train for life and took it, and I am sure are now very comfortabley off.

If you can’t arrange to make 1 trip (during a 3 month window)per year to pay your Road Tax and insurance, how the devil would you manage to make 12 trips per year to pay monthly instalments?
How do you pay other bills like electricity, water etc?
If you work for a company, do they not pay your salary into your bank?

Simion1023 seems to be the sort of person that cannot organize a booze up in a brewery.
We normally use words starting with a P and ending with UP.
Or they are a wind up merchant, as per the previous postings!

Not sure what country you are from Simone123, but back in the UK you can be fined for not having road tax the day after.

It could easily be done in Cyprus now it's all computerised. I'm sure an automatic fine through the door a month after the deadline will sort out all those payment extensions.

They can't all have problems dragging their backsides to the bank too!

The title of this thread seems appropriate to me.

Interesting to see Simion1023, if you continue to hold your opinion when you receive your electricity bill complete with the 40% price hike!
This at a time when the price of oil is falling like a stone.

Competition was intended to be introduced to discourage situations such as this, however, the government have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo, happy for us peasants to pay for their continued privileged existance.

Not much changes in a communist state, even one in the EU!

Where did you get this info from?

If it was from the Cyprus Mail, http://cyprusbusinessmail.com/?p=44536 one of us is reading it wrong.
The way I read it was that the price was 40% dearer this month compared with the same month in 2016 NOT that they were going up 40%

Cyprus Mail quote:- "Consumers had to pay almost 40 per cent and 11 per cent more for electricity and fuel last month compared with April 2016"

So M.A.D., if it didn't go up by 40%, how come it's 40% dearer this year than last?

It did go up, and it is 40% dearer than the same time last year, no argument there, however the wording of your post and implication was that it 'was going' up 40% this month.

Anyway, it’s not that important in the big picture whether the price is up or down.

In the face of mounting instability in the East, with tensions growing between Korea and the US, Japan is prepares its defence troops for the possibility of conflict. SPEAKERS ON

I think M.A.D. others may not share your view.
The electricity board, I'm sure, apparently like you, don't care one jot either way as they exist in 'Jurrassic Park' when it comes to consideration of their general consumers.
