Police clamp down on jaywalkers

People caught jaywalking in Cyprus will be given spot fines of €9 from today.

The police move comes after a series of pedestrian deaths this year, caused by people crossing roads outside designated areas.

Ok so what if you have to walk on road because cars are parked on the pavement or other areasAlso is there going to be pedestrian crossings all along coral bay road to TOTK.I think not.

What are your views on this i know it would stop accidents

They do this in the US but I don't know how efficient it is.

Not even sure I know what Jaywalking is...............its an american phrase isn't it? I believe its to do with crossing the road but never have been certain........................I always took the view that how else are you going to get across the road if you don't walk across it? stupid!!

With the state of some of the pavements in Paphos, it's safer to walk along the road at times.

So close yet so far away

You may only cross in dsignateed areas other wise jaywalking.The times we have come of path because a car is parked on it to get around it.So hope the police will fine the car driver also for illegaly parking.
