Only one Frank when I was in London visiting my sister who lives there. She took me to one of the oldest pie and mash shops in the Smoke. It was great and v.v.v. filling!

Not sure mate, I've not lived there since I was 19 & my favorite meal was egg, chips & beans but then again, I don't think they had a real traditional meal where I was from  probably fish & chips

Vinegar over everything!

Ingredients Parsley Liquor

25 Gram Butter (1 oz)
25 Gram Plain flour (1 oz)
300 ml Water (10 fl oz)
4 Tablespoon Chopped fresh parsley
Salt and freshly ground pepper
1 Teaspoon Malt vinegar, optional

How to make Parsley Liquor

Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the flour and cook for 1 minute.
Gradually add the water or stock. Bring to the boil, stirring continuously. Add the parsley and seasoning and vinegar if using.
Serve with a minced beef pie and mashed potatoes.
Note:

You can use chicken stock to make your Parsley Liquor in place of the water

I love pie and mash! Haven't had any for years though! I also used to go to Roman Rd market, great for clothes!
We mainly used to go to Cook's in Dalston, although my mum said bethnal green was the best.I always hated the live eels on display in the window, they used to chop them up in front of you ,yuck!

My mum makes liquer with fish stock because the stock was originally from stewing the eels.

Hi, I'm from Stratford and like Carollynne we used to go to Roman Road too, and lets not forget Bethnal Green :!:
As to pubs, dont forget the Green Man just by the Bow flyover. My Grandads funeral went from there as my Nan wouldnt have it from home cos she said he spent more time there than he did at home :!: They gave him a good send off. :clapping Some of my family used to use the Blind Begger pub, now theres stories to be told, but not on a public forum :Gunoh
We spent a lot of time in Bow and it wasnt unusual to bump into the Krays........Maggie
