Post subject:  Latest French Attack

Another terrible attack in Paris that could not have come at a worse time for French politics. The French Presidential elections are about to kick off and France is plagued by all sorts of problems-both economic and social.

The French voting system is a bit odd- what normally happens is that the French would vote for who they most want to win in the first round, but then they vote against the candidate they least want to win in the second- and that is usually suits the “establishment”

However such are the levels of economic and immigration chaos in France that this year they have 2 anti establishment figures polling as high as the 2 establishment ones, leading to the possibility that the runoff could be between Le Pen and Melenchon, both of whom have a hugely anti EU agenda

It really is nothing short of astonishing that a founding member of the EU could have such an enormous section of the population backing anti EU candidates and the developments of last night aren’t going to change those sentiments one iota.

The French voting system might just be about to throw up the biggest shake up in the history of European politics - I certainly now believe if they had a referendum on continued French membership of the EU the people of France would vote exactly the same way as the people of the UK did
