Hi PP,
I am writing this to let my mum know that even though im thousands of miles away im here for her whenever she needs me. As some of you will know my mum is a PP member too, living in Paphos and im in the u.k, as you may not know she has had a hard time of late and i just want her to know i am very proud of her. She is a very strong and gutsy lady and im not sure i would be so brave in her position, i admire her courage very much and i am greatful she has nurtured me into the person i am over the last 28 years to make me strong enough to deal with things too. So, i just wanted to say, mum, you were there for me at my darkest moment with my sick baby son and now he is fit as a fiddle, it is my turn to be there for you. Keep your chin up, im only a four hour flight away...just say the word.
:heart

I feel the same way as you do about my mum and she is in the UK but it always great to let her know how you are feeling about her. Your post brought tears to my eyes and it is so important to let people know the true extent of their worth.

Emma, keep thinking like that, it's lovely.

I lost my mum (suddenly) when I was 13, and I never had the chance to tell her how much I loved her - well it's not something you think is all that important at that age is it?

I was reading a profile on MSN, the other day, a friend of my daughter's, (she would kill me if she knew I did things like that!) and it said, "I tell my mum every day that I love her, because one day she won't be around to hear it"..........................

What a lovely post Emma. Hope your Mum has friends in Cyprus who are as kind and supportive as the ones I have, then you can rest assured that she will be well looked out for.

This is from part of an email a Canadian relative sent me -

What makes a good mother anyway?
Is it patience? Compassion? Broad hips?
The ability to nurse a baby, cook dinner, and
sew a button on a shirt, all at the same time?

Or is it in her heart?
Is it the ache she feels when she
watches her son or daughter disappear
down the street, walking to school alone
for the very first time?

The jolt that takes her from sleep to
dread, from bed to crib at 2 A.M. to put
her hand on the back of a sleeping baby?

The panic, years later, that comes again
at 2 A.M. when she just wants to hear
their key in the door and know they
are safe again in her home?

Or the need to flee from wherever she is
and hug her child when she hears news
of a fire, a car accident, a child dying?

The emotions of motherhood are
universal and so our thoughts are for
young mothers stumbling through diaper
changes and sleep deprivation....
And for mature mothers learning to let go.

For working mothers and stay-at-home mothers.

Single mothers and married mothers.

Mothers with money, mothers without.

This is for you all. For all of us...

Hang in there. In the end we can
only do the best we can. Tell them
every day that we love them. And pray
and never stop being a mother....

:heart

PP! Thanks for all your replies, i am flying out again, on my own this time, on wednesday for just a few days to support my mum. The thought of being away from my children for even a few days aches my heart and i feel tearful at the thought of it, the four yr old is fine as we can speak on the phone but the baby is a real mummies boy and i am dreading leaving him. The thing is that in years to come they will probably not remember me being away for a few days, but my mum will never forget that i was there for her. Also it is a great lesson for them to learn that when your loved ones are reaching out for support you should be there regardless. So, i will come for a few days and forfill my daughterly duties and then resume my motherly and wifely duties when i return. :heart

you are just fab! your mum will appreciate so much what you are doing. little beau will probably not notice too much you are away as long as some one else is loving and caring for him ..... you will be the one struggling without all three of your boys!!! try not to feel guilty about leaving them just look forward to seeing their faces again when you get back!!!!

take care of yourself and yours

Why don't you and mum come to the ladies coffee shop on Thursday? It will also be a chance for Debs to meet the other ladies.

It's the ladies coffee shop near the St Pauls pillar end of bar street, from 2pm onwards on Thursday. I'm sure it would do her good to meet up with new people and have a good chat. I'll pm you my number so if you get lost I can direct you.
