I was horrified by the latest attack - but how much horror can you post when it's happening on a daily basis? It really is too much to take in now given the scale of how often it's reported.

It's particularly saddening as we travelled through quite a bit of Syria on our visits there from Cyprus so it brings it all so much closer.

Nobody who saw the aftermath of this recent suicide bombing with such catastrophic consequences could surely have been left untouched by it. Absolutely sickening given they were supposed to be being rescued!

A truely horrific act perpetrated by cowards who do not even have the guts to admit to their actions. It is as if each side is trying to outdo each other in the level of depravity they are willing to resort to...the horrors that the Syrian people are being subjected to beggars belief. And Neil, it's not selective hearing, it's disbelief as to how barbaric humanity can be....I thought I had experienced humanity at its lowest whilst serving in the FRY in the mid Nineties...anyone who thinks we should just sit back and watch this...should think again.

Wasn't it the Soviet Union who started the whole sorry mess in Afghanistan in the first place and I didn't think Syria was next door to Russia either though I'm sure RT will correct me.

It was Great Britain what started "Great Game" in 19 century !
Read historian researches.
Or here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Great_Game

Quite correct Jim B, Great Britain quite frankly realised that Afghanistan wasn't worth a dime, the terrain lends itself to subversive activities as the Russians soon found out
Sergio colonisation has been going on since ancient times, thousands of years before the 19th century. The great game is just another period in colonial activities, Russia was probably the most recent example with the Soviet Union and the Iron curtain states/countries under is powerful grip.

The Russians weren't helped by the fact that the Americans armed the Afghans (essentially the Taliban) with ground to air missiles that knocked the Russian helicopters out of the sky.

We could ask what's the Terrorist's weapon of choice; would it be the Kalashnikov ak-47 which just happens to be made in Russia?

And Russia with all its masses of power and technology couldn't conquer ill trained terrorists who only possessed manhandle able weapons.

I can just imagine firing a 'Sarin' Machine gun at someone several hundred metres away especially when you have to make sure that the wind is in the right direction.
