We haven't heard any news recently, I think they were going to get legal advice.
My wife is one affected by this, she would have had her State Pension Oct last year, now it is going to be Oct 2022.

Really Geoff? And which party do really think will reintroduce these pensions? From what I understand from your posts our wife effectively retired many years ago.....hardly one of those most effected....but hey oh it's another bandwagon to keep you amused...I do really sorry for those those effected, but people like your wife had plenty of notice and time to adjust. We made our original plans based on my wife qualifying for her pension first and thus qualifying for state care here, that has obviously changed and now I qualify first which means about an additional€20k in medical insurance fees...stuff happens..

My wife has 26 qualifying years.
We moved here in 2003.
Her new address in Cyprus was made known to DWP and HMRC at that time, and acknowledged..
She had no notification her State Pension would be delayed by 6 years.
So she will lose about £35K on present figures.
We will vote for any Party promising to make some kind of reasonable transition payment.
Geoff.

They won't, and those most effected, the most deserving and disadvantaged are now in the zone and qualifying...not much consolation but I am afraid the campaign, however well meaning has run its course. If you want to know how much your wife will eventually receive you should go onto the HMRC web site, you need her log in, I assume you have one, and it will go you a pension quote and a record of all qualifying years.

Thanks Hudswell.
She obtained a pension forecast earlier this year, so she knows what now to expect etc.
Which is how I was able to quote her qualifying years as 26 in my earlier post.
She will get, in 2022 when she is 66, 26 35ths of £155 per week.
Cheers,
Geoff.

The WASPI campaign has not yet run its course by any means. More than ever supporting MP's, even some Conservatives!
The Government is still trotting out the same responses and appearing to refuse to listen but sources inform us that they are rattled by the prospect of this campaign carrying on, and also not happy re the possible legal challenge regarding lack of appropriate notification of the changes followed by the unfair acceleration of the age hike.

I am in a similar position Geoffrey. My friend was 60 in January 2013 and has been receiving her pension since September 2013. I was born December 1953 and have to wait until March 2019 until I receive mine. I have paid in 38 years. I was never notified even though DWP & HRMC have my address here in Cyprus. I know they have my address cause they send me tax forms.

Yes the tax forms are the give-away if they try and say (as the Govt did) that you were all
notified.
We now know (via WASPI) that was a blatant lie, nobody was notified UNLESS they had
requested a pension forecast around 1995.
We live in hopes anyway!

Some interesting info I read today, Geoffreys
Quote:
TRANSITIONAL ARRANGEMENTS’ FOR WASPI WOMEN: WHY IT’S A MYTH

A decade of women born in the 1950s is bearing the brunt of increases to their State Pension Age (SPA) without proper notification. Many have had not one but 2 SPA increases, leaving no time to prepare and shattering carefully laid retirement plans. All have to wait up to 6 years longer than they expected to get their state pension, causing many families great hardship and distress. These changes have cost up to £46,000 each in lost pension.

When challenged about the appalling mismanagement of this process by the DWP, the Government says it made £1.1 billion worth of ‘transitional arrangements’ or ‘concessions’ and has no intention of doing any more for us. Let’s look at what that actually means.

In fact, there were no transitional arrangements; only an Amendment to the 2011 Pensions Act. That amendment capped the second increase in SPA at 18 months rather than the two years the Government wanted. So there were no ‘concessions’ or ‘transitional arrangements’, but up to an extra 18 months of further lost pension costing those affected between £8,000-£12,000. And this amendment only applied to a small number of the 2.6 million women hit by the rises in SPA.

Firstly it only affected women born between 6th January 1954 and 5th September 1954 - NO ONE ELSE. Secondly the only women who actually got 6 months taken off their SPA were those born between 6th March 1954 and 5th April 1954. The rest of the group born in the 9 months as above had anything from 1 to 5 months taken off. That means everyone in that group had 18 months added to their SPA.

The 2011 Act made a total saving on government spend (they use the word ‘benefit’) of £31.7 billion and the little amendment they made was worth £1.1 billion. They did not ‘give’ us anything but made an overall saving of £30.6 billion. Furthermore, this amendment included all men as well as women born in that period. Within this amendment, of the 7+ years women affected by this Act, only 9 months were ‘helped’. Of the 2.6 million women affected by SPA increases only 245,000 were ‘helped’.

To summarise, the 2011 Act was nothing to do with equalisation and everything to do with cost cutting. There were no transitional arrangements; the Government just took less from us than it planned, adding to the burden of the first rise in SPA. The then Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, boasted at the 2013 International Finance Ministers’ Panel (Global Investments Conference) that it was probably one of the “less controversial” things he did and one of the most cost saving too. It certainly wasn’t for those hit by it. Interestingly, one of his fellow panellists commented that it would be better to tackle youth unemployment before raising SPAs; another pointed out that any SPA increases must be done gradually, with at least 12-15 years’ notice.

I don't know the source of the text as it was posted on a WASPI group I'm a member of...

And, a nice little picture video, just for good measure - from a separate source:

Thank you Fylde Filly for the above info.
In other words these women, including my wife born 10/56, have been robbed, ripped off, call it what you will.
Theft by a dis-honest UK Govt.
Where do WASPI go now though?

This is the opportunity for affected women and their friends/families to tell their MP's they expect their support for the WASPI campaign or they won't get their vote...the one thing that scares any MP is the prospect of losing their precious jobs!

Thank you very much Wavy Dave, indeed it does and as strong as ever! The group I started now has over 140 members and we have got full Council backing which has given us access to premises for a weekly drop in service for affected women. So, we are informing and supporting more and more WASPI women :heart

Desperate times, desperate measures.....would you seriously put the country at risk of a labour government just because they promise "some kind of compensation" for those ladies effected?

Well, there's about 3m of them plus their partners and children - if they're all eligible to vote, it could make for an interesting election ;)

Well hopefully most of them will put their conscience and common sense before voting for the train crash that is Labour.....Perhaps some concessions for the WASPI ladies, no university fees.....reintroduce Nationalisation, more power to the Trade Unions, abondon the defence of the country.....and the list goes on...a Left Wing socialist Society...now where is the money coming from? I Suspect the Majority of the WASPI ladies have more sense....but then again it may just be about the money.

Maybe they could crack down on the businesses who are avoiding paying their full share of taxes instead of borrowing record sums like the tories. The tories have borrowed more since 2010 than every labour govt. combined.

Some people, just can't see beyound the end of their noses I am afraid..a promise of "Some Compensation" sounds very much like most of the labour leaked document....pure fantasy playing to the gullible....I am surprised they are not promising free ice cream for all!

I asked a UKIP candidate what UKIP were going to do about Tax Avoidance, he said the Tax book contained 50,000 pages, I'm not holding my breath.

It so annoys me that Labour ,Lib Dems etc can promise the world purely because they know they have no chance of winning the election. They would not have a clue should the unthinkable happen and I can say hand on heart that there is absolutely no way they could keep to their manifestos. The tories have to be careful what they promise because they know they have to keep to it.Re WASPI,although I have every sympathy with the 50's ladies they are not going to win and in my opinion are just giving people false hope. I feel that the Lib Dems are right when they say an extra penny on tax as there is no way this country can pay pensions and additional money to the NHS etc without finding sone way to get more income. The MPs who sign a pledge to promote the WASPI ladies are just paying lip service to get votes and then when Pm question time comes up they will ask the question for assistance for the ladies, get told no and that will be it. They can go back and say they tried - yeah!!

Yes and most of it is designed to pander to any pressure group going! Nationalisation of the railways and post office, throwing away any guarantee of the defence of the country,,strengthening the reliance on the welfare state, no guarantees on BREXIT or control of immigration, abolish University fees...increase Corporation Tax thus reducing the UKs competitiveness....oh and don't forget recognition and "Some Compensation" those worst effected by pension age changes....40 pieces of silver springs to mind...

It's a manifesto - if they ever get a mandate for the entire manifesto we are all in deepest doo doo.

One can only assume it's a "tactical" manifesto rather than a serious statement of intent, because if Labour are serious and anyone takes it seriously then mental health care in the UK is failing abysmally

I must agree that some of the MP's and budding MP's frantically signing and being pictured with the WASPI pledge are just doing it to get support from a not inconsiderable proportion of the 1950's women and their families...our votes count and we will vote, unlike many who spout but then don't actually get to the ballot box.
I run a group of around 150 affected women and I am now being approached by MP's who have never bothered before to even answer my emails etc as they want to get 'us WASPI's' onside. We are a formidable group to harness for support. I don't forget those who previously ignored me though!
Personally, as someone who has been involved in this for over 3 years, I think the party that can offer and guarantee a decent compromise would win many votes. It has been accepted that a return to 60 will never happen, neither will compensation - despite how unfairly we have been treated, and we sure have!
Politics is a game and a dirty one at that, plus the media doesn't help....fake news is everywhere and people don't always have the time to check stuff out before sharing.
Whatever, we WASPI women will fight on, we certainly have nothing to lose!

A good post MPM and whilst I do symphasise with the WASPI campaign I do hope that members will not vote for a party based on a single, and let's face it, a very minority issue, which does not undermine those that have been most effected. A vote for labour with its empty promises, is quite frankly a vote for anarchy.

Yep, correct, but I think you will Find Mrs May is on top of that one....whilst Labour suggest putting it up to an extent that small business fails and larger ones decide perhaps the UK is not the place to invest in...

And how many get away with Avoiding Corporation Tax through Tax Avoidance that costs the country £Billions each year..

Yep, correct, but I think you will Find Mrs May is on top of that one....whilst Labour suggest putting it up to an extent that small business fails and larger ones decide perhaps the UK is not the place to invest in...

True Costa etc may close their UK coffee shops if they have to pay tax.

A bit rich when you say Waspi are just giving people a false hope. I think they are a lot more sincere than that, and actually campaigning for the RIGHTS of those who are eligible, and yet have been conned out of what they were due. At least, they are not sitting on their backsides and doing nothing. :-(

Who cares if Costa Coffee clear off. If they are not paying their taxes, then best if they go. Overpriced on all their goods anyway.

Costa coffee are indeed a British company and much of their recent success has been based on the fact they do pay their taxes in the UK (people really ought to get their facts right)
