Parliamentary offices are in lockdown after attempted shooting/stabbing, car plowing into pedestrians. assailant shot by police. One officer injured.

Police are classing it as a terrorist incident.

PM is in Downing Street after being rushed from Parliament.

Referendum debate in Holyrood suspended in respect.

Reports now saying that one woman has died, many others suffering catastrophic injuries after car plowed into pedestrians, this was separate incident from the stabbing/shooting. At least 4 but possibly 12 injured in this incident.

BBC reporter saying that levels of police involved never seen before in the capital. Also querying whether - given that the 'incident" occurred at 2.40 - this is actually an ongoing incident and not limited to information being disclosed, but absolutely no confirmations of that.

Another BBC reporter reporting that police on the bridge are in bomb disposal gear.

Many reporters and the public praising the police for their rapid response.

Full counter-terrorism investigation now underway.

Police are asking for any recordings of the incident be shared with them, or indeed any other information.

Emergency COBRA meeting to be held tonight, chaired by the PM

MPs now being released from Parliamentary buildings.

Sadly, the police officer lost his life, along with 3 others, many still with serious injuries.

No information yet re connection between the man who stabbed the police officer and the car which ploughed into people.

Now saying that the person who crashed the car into pedestrians is the same person who stabbed the police officer.

BBC report
Police officer 'stabbed at UK Parliament'

A police officer has been stabbed in the Houses of Parliament in central London, Commons Leader David Lidington has said.
He told MPs the "alleged assailant was shot by armed police" following a "serious" incident.
Staff inside Parliament were told to stay inside their offices.
The BBC's Laura Kuenssberg said police told her someone had been shot and MPs said they heard "three or four gunshots".
Tom Peck, political editor for the Independent, tweeted: "There was a loud bang. Screams. Commotion. Then the sound of gunshots. Armed police everywhere."
Prime Minister Theresa May was seen being ushered into a silver Jaguar car as what sounded like gunfire rang out at Parliament during the incident.
A Downing Street source confirmed that Prime Minister Theresa May was "OK".
Scotland Yard said it was called to a firearms incident on Westminster Bridge amid reports of several people injured.
Transport for London said Westminster underground station has been shut at the police's request.
Mr Lidington said: "It seems that a police officer has been stabbed, that the alleged assailant was shot by armed police.
"An air ambulance is currently attending the scene to remove the casualties.
"There are also reports of further violent incidents in the vicinity of the Palace of Westminster but I hope colleagues on all sides will appreciate that it'd be wrong of me to go into further details until we have confirmation from the police and from the House security authorities about what is going on."

An eye witness, Radoslaw Sikorski, a senior fellow at Harvard's Centre for European Studies, posted a video to Twitter purporting to show people lying injured in the road on Westminster Bridge.
He wrote: "A car on Westminster Bridge has just mowed down at least 5 people."

A lady on the bridge has died, beneath the rear of a bus.
The policeman who tackled the assailant has also died.
I hope the armed policeman, who shot the assailant, is NOT subjected to a stupid inquiry.
It's time to support those who protect us !

From all the current information it appears to me this was a 'terror' attack and not a 'terrorist' attack...
Thoughts are with the families of dead and injured

Horrific news. So awful for those affected and that poor policeman who lost his life. Words fail me.

It goes without saying, any sane person will be disgusted by what happened yesterday...on a side note, isnt it time all Police at sensitive areas, should be armed..

It appears that one of the victims had a Cypriot father.

A Turkish Cypriot father + Spanish mother.
President Anastiades said no Cypriots were involved. There was the one you mention, plus a couple of Greek Nationals.
I can understand him ignoring the TC, but not the Greeks!
Geoff.

Geoff its well known on several Cyprus Forums, your Bias for anything to do with Turkish Cypriots, but to try and use this tragic event to score points, is lower then the low.
