A little dispute ( in the local bar of course ).When crossing the border to the north do you definitely need a passport or will your Cypriot ID card suffice. This is serious,there,s a two Carlsberg,s bet on this :shock:

If you are driving over then all British passport holders will have to show the PASSPORT. It is scanned onto a computer. No visa is issued now. On the way back it is the same procedure.

I f walking through it would appear to be no checks some days and on other days passport required.

Cypriots can use there ID cards in both instances.

I think only Cypriots can cross with IDs...Brits holding Cypriot IDS need to produce Passport, not 100% sure, but I think thats what a friend had to do.

If you walk across at Strovolos (the car crossing) the ROC police quite often (but not always) scan your passport into their computer. Quite why when this is not done at Ledra Street is a mystery.

I had my passport scanned at Ledra Street in February
