Christmas opening hours announced

All general stores should adhere to the Christmas schedule of working hours, meaning they should remain closed on Christmas and Boxing day, as well as January 1, 2 and 6, the Labour ministry announced on Tuesday.

With the exception of the above days, general stores may remain open until 8pm daily, except for Christmas and New Year’s eve when they must close by 6pm.

Specialty stores, a statement by the ministry said, may remain open during the holidays, but employees working on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, or January 1, 2, or 6, should be paid double.
