I was pleased to see today that US President-elect Trump plans to cancel the order for
2 Planes to replace the 2 Airforce Ones - a saving of US$4 Billion!. He says they are far too expensive.
Well he got that right - the money will go a long way towards building the fence along the USA<>Mexico border to keep the illegals and drug trafficers out.
I don't think Boeing will be overly pleased though...
Geoff.

Geoff,
I'm displeased to see such post in "Paphos Day 2 Day" forum
- it would be fair to move it to Political section of the site
- he made a call to reduce its cost
- Trump is a pragmatic and it's good sign for us
- be honest - it's "Air Force One", pitching by words what you used will not reduce its size or a value, it just show how low your point of view

And surely being the successor would be called Airforce one mark two or some such Yankee Doodle dander.

By all means have it moved to the Political section.
I am pleased you feel that Trump is a pragmatic and that you feel that it's a good sign for us, I totally agree.
Many thanks for your input.
Have a nice day,
Geoff.

Has anyone seen a copy of the cancellation clause in the contract with Boeing?

I'm guessing the 'saving' might well be somewhat less than the hype!

There is no such "contract" inked, it's just Boeing's initiative so far (see CNN about the news)

A note to Dave (M.A.D) and Neil ,as moderators /owners. Can we please get rid of all this political forum nonsense?
Too much bother switching from one forum to another, especially as many subjects carry a mixed bag of content of Day 2 Day Life/ Political subject.

Post wherever you like as far as I am concerned, especially since as you say 'it's often a mixed bag'
Maybe political based BUT if it affects the Day 2 Day of members in Cyprus.....post away in that section.

The 'political' section was only formed because we were asked :doh

Just be ready to repel the wrath

Since all threads of a perceived political nature (eg. Brexit) have been moved to the Political section, the forum is noticeably much quieter and, from my point of view at least, much less interesting. I only ever go to the Day to Day section. As I've argued before, Brexit is not politics in the true sense, but rather current affairs.

Brexit affects us all, including - or perhaps especially - those of us who live in Cyprus.

As suspected the following quote puts things in perspective;

"As for Trump’s tweet, Earnest said, “I’d refer to my colleagues at the Department of Defense for the particulars of the procurement contract. Some on the statistics that have been, uh, cited, shall we say, don’t appear to reflect the nature of the financial agreement between Boeing and the Department of Defense,” according to a pool report."

So do you want the Mods to move all the Brexit stuff back to this section?
Geoff.

What is done is done, but as Lloyd correctly points out BREXIT is more current affairs than purely political. Unlike some other site(s) PP has never been particularly OCD, and long may it continue...most Posters have a pretty good idea where a post should be...and if they want the widest possible viewing then day to day life is probably it.....getting your knickers in a twist..well life is just too short..

I just click on "View new posts" whenever I visit...doesn't matter which section it's in then.

Too many [people on here want to spout rules.
Post wherever you like, I say!!

Could have sworn the original post was about Trump!

If you are intent on taking over a thread, why don't you just create a new one instead?

The comments other than about Trump are intertwined with the second poster's comment, so do belong in this thread.

Maybe he could be a Moderator....then we'd all have to toe the line and post in the correct section and not take threads off topic.

It would be a sadder place!

"It would be a sadder place!"

Agree Big Nev. Dont really give a toss where stuff is posted, but Lloyd has a point. I rarely look on other sections so miss the cut and thrust of political stuff!!

Note to self, check the political section :banghead :banghead

Is that a large A4 manila windowless envelope, or one of those self sealing ones, with windows, that firms find it hard to put your address in the correct place so that it shows in the window?
