Just wondering how the good folk on the island are coping with the situation. It must be a drain on every day life now.Hope everyone is managing to continue with keeping evey day things clean like clothes and showers. It must be getting very tireing now.

Its not a problem - yet.

We have water on schedule for 12 hours then off for 36 and off for all of Sunday ... that is the loose format. The unsightly tanks on the roof hold plenty of water for two-three days normal usage as according to a quick look at last 12 months metered water is average 300 litres a day which provided plenty for the house, pool and garden.

So with the roof tanks holding, i beleive, 1000 litres between them the effect of the water rationing on us has to date been minimal. We still follow all normal water rationing suggestions (less flushes, less water in flush, don't leave tap/shower running, collect cold water, collect washing up water etc!!).

I saw a report that said "Paphos will last until Summer 2009" on current usage ... hardly something to keep people being careful !!

Hi Guys I have a property maintenance/handyman service in Limassol ,one of my clients called me to put locks on the communal taps as he caught a young man about 25yrs old filling tanks and loading his pick-up.When confronted the young man started crying please dont report me i am from a village and we have no water,my client took pity and sent him on his way.The complex is in a built up area behind Debenhams.A bit sad we have to lock up our water.

So far we have had no rationing at all - water has been on constantly so I am quite amazed at that fact although we are still conserving as much water as possible and it is surprising how much waste water in one day you can recycle.

Maybe I am just being cynical but I do not believe the story about the village without water - bet you he is out there selling it

Haven't been affected in any way up here in the mountains - our village draws water from a spring on Turkish Land

We have no water on a M,W,F but it has not created any hardship we wash clothes etc around it.

Daily showers are fine, because the water tank lasts for approx one week with careful use and depending on how many people are in the household. Also it has four days a week to fill up again.

We do not waste any water at all, surplus tap water is put in a bucket for the toilet cistern. I reckon we have reduced our consumption of water by more than a third.

The company we have rented our holiday villa from haven't mentioned a thing to us about possible water shortages. Obviously we are well aware of the situation and will be using our water sparingly while we are there but I wonder how many unsuspecting holidaymakers will arrive this summer unaware of the problems because the tour operators haven't informed them

Hi Julie from what we have read in the local press tourist area's should not be affected, I think you will be OK.

Chloraka, Kissonerga, Lemba, Emba and Tala seem to be the most affected areas I know about at the moment....the water to these areas is supplied by the Monastery, most areas of Paphos are fine including Universal not heard anything to the contrary, unless someone else has?

Jan :)
