ie. HERE

I totally agree with this view................

BUT

Over a period of a number of months since the conception of PP

MORE PP members read/look at/view posts in the Day to Day Life in Paphos
forum rather than the NEWS.

Maybe, news from Paphos should be in a separate header....................

eg..........What has this to do with Day to Day ?

HERE

Different people/members have differing views on what is/is not important to each........

But..............If a News item is NOT Paphos related, then it should be posted in NEWS.
If it is Paphos related, then it should be posted in Day to Day Life............

This is only MY opinion.

What do other members think? Where do you want to see News articles posted?

I personally just 'view messages since last visit' so haven't a clue which section they are in.
(S'pose therefore it doesn't bother me one way or another!)

When PP was first created, we did have a seperate section for Paphos News & Other News but some of the management team thought we had too many forums compared to the amount of posters/members, so we condensed quite a few forums into each other, thus 'News' :o

Now I don't take pleasure in moving members posts as I have other things I could be getting on with but I personally wouldn't want the 'Day 2 Day Life' forum getting clogged up with member just posting 'news' topics all the time instead of actually posting something written in their own hand as that's why we have a 'News' forum to put these in :!:

The 'Day 2 Day Life' forum is just that, for things that happen in members day 2 day life, not just Paphos related topics, its for member to contribute what they've been up too & ask for help & assistance during the day & as we have member from a far greater base than just Paphos, it's not much use otherwise

Stuart makes a point when he says if member want to read the news, why not go to a dedictated news site, while that being a good suggestion, forums are for the passing of information between members, that why we have seperate forums for different topics ie News, Sports, Places of Interest, Build Guide etc etc so that any member who has some information they feel may be benificial to others, they can post it in the relevant forum :!:

As for JGG view that more member look at the 'Day 2 Day Life' for than they do the 'News' forum, well this is relative to the amount of posts in each forum too & that the 'Day 2 Day Life' forum is at the top of the page & a lot of people don't even bother looking at any other forum due to lazyness of scrolling down the page
Its also a fact that members like to comment of topics which that don't on a 'News' article, they just read it & leave, go to the 'News' forum & check out how many time each new article has been read & you'll see its quite a lot

Just remember one thing, if the news starts to appear in the 'Day 2 Day Life' forum, it won't be long before other members will want other sections included too, like 'Jokes' 'Sport' etc etc

Then we might as well not have a forum, just a collection of topics under one heading :o

This is only MY opinion btw :!:

If you are going to copy and paste a news article from another site into the main forum then surely there needs to be a comment made by the poster which will then develop into a discussion about said topic. If no comment is to be made then just put it into the news section or just look at the related news site.

On non-Cyprus forum i used to go on they had an etiquette for posting related articles for further discussion - it worked quite well , at least for that forum

(a) just post a link to the story using the article title as the message subject if fit for purpose
(b) quote the main bit of text that you are making a comment on
(c) make a suitable comment that others will be able to respond to

Yep, that seems eminently sensible to me. :goodpost

Can be a good way of getting discussions going on the main forum that would be otherwise lost/missed.
