Hi Folks

Our leaders Sheila and David give us a taste of what to expect on this Wednesdays walk describing it below.

'We are sure most of you will remember this walk from April which we think is worth repeating, with the added twist of starting at Steni, an agricultural settlement 234 m above sea level, specialising in cherries, olives, avocados, oranges, water melons, cereal and more recently until EU intervention, nicotinia (tobacco plants) Citrus scents can be guaranteed but the whiff of goat may elude us as the herds have been put out to pasture.

We meet at Neromylos, Steni, well known for its excellent traditional fare and homemade desserts; walking and cakes make an unlikely combination but we select from the non-calorie range.

Meandering through the village we soon pick up the upward trail taking us to Ayios Isidhoros, a medieval church dating from the time of the Turkish occupation.

The broad undulating track rolls out accompanied by a narrow gorge on the right with stunning inland and coastal views. Eventually the track falls away to the valley floor and here we encounter an Indiana Jones type trail making our way through high bamboo. Returning to and crossing the main road we join another good earth track taking us down hill, here we may encounter some mud if the rain forecast is correct. Then there is a left turn along a level track parallel to the main Polis-Pafos road, through highly scented citrus orchards.

One or two steady ascents and descents with good views of the surrounding countryside bring us back to the main Polis-Steni road where we turn right and head back to the village'.

Sounds amazing, doesn't it? Can't wait to get on the trail but it won't be the same without your company. So why don't you join us for this extended up to 3 hour walk round Goudi/Steni area. Not to be missed!!!!!
