Hi Folks

For this Wednesdays walk we return to a favourite location. Situated between Argaka and Pomos, Yialia (Gialia) surrounded by the hills and pine forests with the coastline running alongside it. This whole area has everything, sea, sand, mountains, valley, and forest. For our regular walkers who have visited this area on previous occasions, Christine and Richard our leaders, have found new areas to discover. For new walkers, you will not be disappointed, this whole area is so beautiful you cannot fail to be awed by the views and scenery on offer. Yialia area, has been described as 'little bit of Troodos' but I have also heard it compared to the Black forest in Germany. Maybe its because the Black Forest seems dark, pierced only by shafts of sunlight and this area will be more shady because of the forest. You'll have to come and find out if this comparison holds true with you!!!!

Christine describes this walk:
'The walk is mostly on the forest tracks. We start by walking up the track in Yialia to the entrance of the nature trail. This will be the most difficult part as the first part of the nature trail is up a steep track with steps. It is not too long and there are some seating at the top where we can have a well earned rest. We continue on the nature trail track, taking care, as the health and safety committee must have been on holiday when the track was implemented. We then continue through the forest taking in the spectacular views over the bay from Akamas to Agia Marina. We then wend our way down to frog corner so named due to a pond which was teeming with frogs, then on through the forest and back on to the track that will take us back to our starting point.

This is not a difficult walk on the whole just at the beginning where we have to go up the nature trail'.

Sounds interesting? Why don't you come along and support Christine and Richard on Wednesday, visit the 'frog corner', and take in the fabulous views over the Akamas and beyond. Stay on afterwards for drink at Val's Place and socialise with the other walkers.
