I'm back in Norfolk after a lovely summer in Peyia.

Usual, occasional, lack of mains water or low pressure that we've all got used to over the years.
Always turn the mains tap on before putting the washing machine or dishwasher on. Water dispenser in the kitchen for drinking. Tanks up on the roof meant it was always possible to have a shower.
You've got the picture??

This morning in West Norfolk there's a major water outage affecting thousands of homes, schools and businesses! Anglia Water are working hard to fix it.

Everyone is having a major panic, ASDA opened at 7 and people were queuing to get in. I admit I was there at 7:30 for bottles of water as my teenagers secondary school was attempting to stay open as they were hoping the supply would be back on by 9 or 10am..
I was also on standby to have my grandchildren as nursery/pre-school were making a decision at 9 as to whether they were staying open.

We just seem to be used to it in Cyprus and take it all in our stride. (Sighs wistfully)

Some people are starting to get their supply back, ours is low pressure.

Hope that your water is soon back on.

This does make me laugh a little )
Where I am currently, in Eastern Europe, they put the water off (for annual cleaning, supposedly), from noon on Friday until early evening on Sunday last week, for the entire city it which I am staying.
I was hospital visiting most of the time - and no water in the hospital also!
As you say - people get used to certain things, and differing degrees of disruption.

We have had 3 occasions in the UK this year where there were burst water mains and here that means you had no water supply for over 24 hours. The problem here is that we don't have lovely big tanks on the roof that keeps you going for washing etc for quite a time if you are careful with it. Here it is off and that is that so it is bottled water until the water company come out and deliver some. It is all relevant to where you live in the world isn't it?

So are we only allowed to post things that only apply to Paphos Sergio? I don't quite understand your post as I was alluding to Cyprus regarding the water tanks on the roof that keep you supplied with water even when the mains go off so it is relevant to this forum.
The opening post was regarding British water supplies if you notice?
:greetings

Whilst you're at it why not go to the Kalahari and send us a report about water shortages there?

then why we are living around Paphos and posting in Paphos People forum discussing UK water shortage ? Obviously Peiya, Tala, Thremetusa, Kili are the places to worry !
I'm rather would talk about my place or a places where the forum is relevant.

Seems to me water provision in Tala is OK, despite a few showers happened last week.

I was talking to a Cypriot guy I know, yesterday.

He said if we don't get substantial rain this winter we will have no water by June.

His opinion was that the Cypriot Government spends too much money on bureaucracy and should spend some on de-salination plants.

13 August

There will be no water supply cuts, despite the drought, as needs are met by the desalination plants, the deputy head of the water development department Nicos Neocleous said.
