OK...STOP IT
We know a lot of members are very passionate about their politics and other agendas but please refrain from the ‘name calling’ etc or the UK won’t be the only thing out :grin:

If you were part of the leave campaign, congratulations you won now leave it there! If you were part of the remain campaign please don't start spreading fear mongering information around to scare people. Unless you're a policy expert, a political negotiator or part of an economic think tank please keep yourselves in check and remember that you could be putting fear in the heart of someone or confusing someone who doesn't truly understand! People will believe anything written on forums, so please stop with your economic predictions and foreign policy predictions and take some responsibility in your posts!

Desiderata
Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others,
even to the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labours and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy. :grin:

Just in case anyone thinks I am 'claiming' this poem (and a few will) :grin:

Desiderata is a 1927 prose poem by American writer Max Ehrmann :clapping

Let me clarify - I'm not for killing useful posts/threads ... it's just awkward to see each time opening the forum whole page old sticky threads; that's not usual way to present common info - a couple threads could be sticky.

Google or local Search is created to help you and avoid them is not smart solution... "teach to fishing"

I guess nobody noticed my question "which is the country within which Paphos People is hosted?"

This is more important than it first looks as, as posters, we have to abide by their laws according to the rules of this forum.

I would correct myself: now it's half of my screen, on "Paphos Day 2 Day Life" forum's page [eg we have nine(9) sticky threads].

What is a sticky thread?

Author:  M.A.D [ Sun Jun 26, 2016 9:17 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: OK...STOP IT

Sergio, there are currently 10 ‘sticky’ threads on the Paphos Day 2 Day Life out of 50 topics
2 are in Announcements and 8 under Topics
They are Admin Team originated and none are out of date. I can’t see what your problem is. If they annoy you, why not just open the View active topics page?

The ten are:-
Posting Guidelines
Membership Terms
OK...STOP IT
NEW Daily exchange rate GUIDE
New member’s user names ... NOTICE.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
Republic of CYPRUS Public Holidays 2016
Help us help you…add your location
Northern Cyprus Public Holidays 2016
General Posting Guidelines

Whilst I am on, please STOP hijacking posts. The topic of this post was "OK...STOP IT" NOT about 'sticky posts'

A 'sticky' thread is one that always stays at the top of a page and doesn't get lost in the general threads. They are usually 'important'
This page shows the sticky's. http://www.paphospeople.com/ppforum/viewforum.php?f=2

My view is to ignore the hysteria, sit back, allow it to settle and then evaluate what really happened.

Thanks Ian. So it's the USA then. So we have to abide by the law of the country in which we reside (e.g. Cyprus or UK), US law, and international law when posting. I guess we'll have to post with our fingers crossed.

Fingers crossed - and everything else.
Why on earth choose the USA?

Dead right! Like the guy on the BBC iPlayer thread who called me "a lazy git".
I found that very offensive.

"Git
(Britain, slang, pejorative) A contemptible person.
(Britain, slang, pejorative) A silly, incompetent, stupid, annoying or childish person (usually a man)."

I don't know if your Doctor's diagnostic skills will be up to the task Geoff. Perhaps you will have to rely on public acclamation ;) .

Thank you Josef, but I knew what a "git" was and I am NOT one.
I was offended by the forum member who called me one. In fact he called me a lazy one,
which ain't correct either.
I will retire hurt from this discussion.
Have a nice day.
