I was told today that, due to understandable increased security checks at the airport, it's advisable to arrive 3 hours rather than 2 before your departure time as queues are so long. Can anyone confirm this please? Been on the website and can't see anything.

If I would worry I would go there and check, it's just 20 min drive...

We departed on Monday on the EJ gatwick flight and got there 2 1/2 hrs before the flight was due to depart. The check-in wasn't even open. As regards the security checks there wasn't any extra delay except for passport control where they scanned all the passports which took a few minutes longer.

I have read that today......airport police etc did an exercise of just in case there was something that went wrong or happened, what they would do...which is great in the scheme of things to have done

they took bodies outside to treat and evacuated etc etc

is that what people are talking about for delays....as this exercise would have caused delays?
I would personally check with my airline and take their advice
happy journeys

We flew out yesterday afternoon, and there were no delays at all. No queues either, which was rather eerie and slightly disturbing.

Thanks. I'd read about the exercises migmogs, and as you say, it's reassuring to know they are prepared should the worst happen. What I was told was that someone nearly missed their flight having to queue so long to get through security, even though they were there 2 hours before as advised. Our friends advised us to allow 3 hours rather than 2. I've checked Easy Jet site and no warnings of delays nor on Paphos Airport site. Sounds like we've nothing to worry about!

Lesley,
We were out in mid Nov and for a change from the Sun/Wed trip we booked Mon/Thurs. Huge difference and as you say slightly eerie relatively speaking.
The extra few minutes reading passports didn't make any difference as it was so quiet.

Friends of ours flew out of Paphos last Wednesday evening and yes - they said by the time they got through the snake queues and passport control / security checks on the other side, they only had 20 minutes to spare before boarding their plane. They were there more than 2hrs before as the were checking dogs in for travel.

So, I would say if you're flying on the busiest days (Weds or Sun) then go 3hrs before....

Might have been the same time our friends' friends travelled by the sound of it Shell. We're flying Friday so maybe 2.5 hours should cover it :greetings

Yeah, reckon you should be okay with that Pat.

We fly on a Saturday evening when we go back to Liverpool in a couple of months so we should be fine too. We always try to avoid the heavy airport days and luckily, the LPL flights do just that (Tues & Sat)

We've never flown out of Paphos since we came to live in Cyprus so still haven't seen what changes they've made with the new airport. All our holiday destinations were flights out of LCA and our very first UK visit was 9 and a half years after we arrived!

So we've used LPL since Nov 2013, it's cheaper for us than Manchester, the difference in travel time by train to Blackpool is negligible too.

Will see what's changed on our next jaunt. It's going to be bloody freezing!

I never book a flight Wed/Sun and always advise friends visiting not to as well if can be helped.

From Manchester Jet 2 and Thompsons fly on Wed/Sun but thankfully Easyjet fly everyday in Summer.

We always try and avoid Sunday's and Wednesday's if possible! Travelling on other days is much less of a hassle! hardly any queues and not at all eerie!
