Been having a bit of a clear out and have some stuff which is far too good to throw away and I've sure I've seen appeals for blankets etc.
Can anyone advise of best place to donate decent bedding i.e.quilts and blankets some of which haven't been used at all? Maybe one of the charities collecting for winter stuff?
I've also got a De Longhi deep fat fryer if anyone wants it gratis. Excellent condition.

Solidarity always need stuff and the drop off points are on their Facebook page, or the Paphos Private Dog Sanctuary which is a small non for profit charity that looks after many many dogs (including those saved by the Govt Vets from being euthanised when their 15 days in the pounds are up) at their premises in Mandria. They always need things to sell on the market stall they have when there's enough stuff to have one. They have an incredible rehoming rate and fund an awful lot of the costs incurred from their own pocket and ask merely for a donation!

Pat,
St Michael's charity shop in Polemi is always on the look out for this type of donation. The blankets would go directly to Archangel Michael Hospice and all other items would go into our furniture and household shop next to our clothing shop and would raise much needed funds for the hospice. If you wish to give me a ring on 97631734 I can arrange collection tomorrow or at a time to suit yourself.
We are always very grateful for any donations.
Best wishes,
Geoff,
Manager, St Michael's Charity Shop, Polemi.

Hi MPM

There is also a St Michaels Hospice shop in Peyia now, just up the hill from the Golden Rose Flower shop, they also are always looking for things

Solidarity is really high on my list, when we where helping to deliver the gift boxes to the children last xmas eve, we where shocked at how little these families had in their homes, especially for the cold winters, with no heating, Solidarity would love your warm blankets also to help keep the children and families who get no benefits warm this winter

Thanks all that's brilliant. I'll certainly find a good home for this stuff! I'm almost finished sorting out so will be in touch

Already asked die6 see my post further up - fingers crossed as I've been involved with them for a long time, and we get overlooked in favour of other better known animal charities!!

If you have anything that is below what you would call decent quality why not donate it to PAWS to help keep the dogs warm over the winter. We just donated a load of towels and they were really grateful for them.

Yes will do that Band. Have some spare towels too. The blankets and quilts are like new though.

Please, please give it to Solidarity! They do a wonderful job and always need stuff like bedding, clothes and household equipment. I'm truly moved by what they do for the needy people here on this island - I think they need it rather more than animals do for beds!

My comment was to suggest that if they have anything less than decent quality stuff they should consider giving it to PAWS for the animals. Although I didn't say it specifically the inference was for the good stuff to go to somewhere like solidarity. I have given loads of stuff to Solidarity in the past and will do again in the future, as well as donating to places like PAWS.

Solidarity do a great job but I am also amazed by the selfless work that animal charity volunteers do here.

No offence taken. I just wasn't clear in my original post about what I actually meant.

How nice that Lesley was aware she may have unwittingly given offense to Band and apologised and Band was gracious in his acceptance. If everyone on here was like this there would never be be any unpleasantness!
