Was a time when in as obligatory to display on the windscreen the Road Fund Licence + MOT
Then they passed a law stating that on safety (blocking visibility) grounds they should NOT
be displayed..
But they forgot to repeal the original law.
So it became legal/illegal to display or not display.
This is Cyprus!
In theory you need to display them anyway in the SBBA or in the KKTC.
But does anyone know what the law now is - has it been clarified?
Geoff.

The current law is that the "disc" should not be displayed on the car. It should printed be kept with the other documents in the rare case it is required by a police officer.
This is because the police now have on-board technology that gives them details of owner, tax, and MOT status based on the number plate. The only thing they do not have yet is access to insurance records.

Josef, I wasn't aware the police did not have access to insurance records. Hopefully that will be rectified soon then, as we are all at risk from uninsured drivers.

Yes, that IS the current law.
My point is that the old law was never repealed.
Means legal either way.
Geoff.

Yes beware untaxed uninsured drivers.
We were hit by one earlier in the year, and a month earlier he hit another driver. And yes he is still driving around in the same car.
Reason. the police say he has no money so how can they do anything about him.

For once I agree with Sergio!

Simples, no car, no accidents.

But maybe the law doesn't allow this??

Put the Road Tax cost on fuel...the more you drive, the more you pay.
You can drive without road tax, you can't drive without fuel.

I've always thought this method should be introduced; the most sensible way of collecting the road fund tax and also much more fair.

It’s now happening in the UK as well
The number of vehicles without road tax - Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) - doubled to 560,000 this summer according to the Department for Transport's survey, months after the paper tax disc was abolished in October 2014.

They do. Have a look in the car park behind the traffic police station. Full of dust covered cars and bikes. All impounded.

Seems to me a quote should be done from George's post.

PS. Yes, I saw these cars, but have no info why - perhaps other reasons, like major problem with engine, transmission,MOT, etc what not allow driving it.

Thank you for your input.
