At this time of year I start to get wound up by targeted adverts appearing on various websites. Thus is because after I have been browsing for gifts for people, adverts for the things I have been looking at come up all over the internet and are visible to the very people I am trying to buy for.
This year I have decided to try and do something about it.
I went to a site called
http://www.networkadvertising.org/choices/ which searches for their member companies who have cookies on your computer and enables you to opt out of receiving targeted adverts (you still get adverts just not ones based on your "perceived interests").
The list of their members includes Google. Since I did it the issue has almost entirely gone for me so I thought that I would share.
Happy days!
