When we went to Dr Lenia, the dentist last week, we walked up to where our car was parked, and passed a lovely little shop selling bread and pastries they bake on the premises. We bought some bread, which was still warm, and it reminded me of the bread my parents used to send me out to get in the late 50's. We also purchased some pastries. Went back there again today and bought more. Spoke to the owner, and she and her partner apparently opened up 5 months ago today. The food is very reasonably priced, and being baked on the same day is really fabulous to eat. Thought I would just let members who want better than the usual old supermarket produce, that this little gem is there They are of half Greek and half Cypriot origin This gem is called Artognosia, and before it is said. I have no connection with them whatsoever, but was so pleased to find a real "home made" food shop again.

Thanks for that Dave.
I'm off to see Dr Lenia tomorrow, so will give myself an 'I was very brave' treat at that shop afterwards

We also have bought some fresh bread rolls from there. I thought they were just a tad expensive though.

No, not double. I purchased a wholemeal loaf (still warm), for 1.50 euros which is the same size as an M & S wholemeal loaf(from the deepfreezer) for 1.95 euros. Don't really see where the "tad expensive" bit comes from!

Good for you EllieB. I have just eaten a portion of Halloumi pastry, and also half a blueberry tart. So delicious. Real home made food again. :bearhug

Artisan produced goods are usually a tad more expensive but it's worth it in my opinion!

The title of the thread almost gives you a clue - it's just by New York SWEETS cake shop along from the Courts building.

I did miss a connection between the "artisan" and a name in first post ...

If you're in Limassol there's a wonderful Artisan Bakery (I use capitals because that's its name!) on the sea front boulevard (road name escapes me), about 100 metres from the roundabout at the castle, travelling west.

The gentleman baker of greek roots was born, raised and trained in Germany (to those former member of the Army of the Rhine the place names Arnsberg and Dortmund will have a meaning). He is trying hard to make traditional German artisan bread. He is still struggling with the flours available here and a not quite perfect oven. But his products are getting better by the day.
Claimer: I am neither related nor do I have an interest in his business. Just a customer.
