I know it has been asked and answered several times before, but after about 1 hour of searching through old posts, I have decided to ask the question before I go mad. :banghead

Who do you normally use for your car hire in Paphos?

I want to hire a car from the airport on arrival. Have had a look at some sites, and for a Corsa/Fiesta sized car I am being quoted around UK£130 including insurance for a week, is this reasonable?

Thanks in advance, and sorry to everyone for having to post this again.

Will have to start printing things off or writing them down as I see topics of interest in future.

Brian

Hi Brian,
Even at the rate quoted always ask is that the best deal you have? in the past we have done this and got a better rate, £130 for a week seems high to me.

Jan :)

Group D: Mitsubishi Spacestar or Nissan March, or similar, manual, 1300cc, 5doors, with A/C, 5 seats @24.50Euros (14.33cy pounds) per day, all inclusive, except of petrol

(10days x24.50Euros =245Euros total all inclusive, except of petrol)

Hi Frank

We also always use George and had Masda Demio in March. Very nice car. One reason we use George is the insurance is fully comp.

I also used George in March and had the black Mazda Demio! Cracking hire car I have to say. Going to use George again in August.

Well I have just booked a car in the UK from next Thursday to the Wednesday after, and because I want an automatic it is costing me £203!!!!! I did say to her that I did not expect any extras adding on for insurance, which is what happened last time! I went on line to book it and got a price of £129, but they would not accept my Visa Electron card (Alpha Bank), and I haven't got my Nationwide card reader yet! When I queried the price, she told me that there was a big discount for booking on line, and she couldn't match it - now I have a friend in the hire car business over here, and I know he has a certain amount of discretion to offer discounts, but she insisted she couldn't match the internet price. This is with Europcar, but theirs has got to be the strangest website ever - you can go in one time and get a price of £129, but ask it again and it comes up with £767 = nobody in their right mind would pay that for one week in an "economy automatic". I was not best pleased, and we shall see what happens next week when I go to collect it.

Jean,
For car hire in the UK I have found it is always best to use http://www.holidayautos.co.uk/
generally the cheapest and No addons and nasty shocks.

They search all the major companies and come up with the best deal.

Thanks Brian

I had checked them already, but unfortunately they don't list my UK town! This is why I use Europcar as they have a depot. Another reason to make sure I get my Nationwide card reader!

In recent years we have used George but were not best pleased with his price in Febuary :!: we asked him about it and he took the huff :huff he did bring the price down but gave us a c.... car, wouldn't use him again.

We bought a car after that.

Another good one to use for UK is http://www.travelsupermarket.co.uk.

My OH works for Budget Car Hire in Larnaca and he says most people get the good deals through searching with car trawler.

Hi all

We booked a car with elephant rent a car was supposed to arrive today Saturday was called last night that they had a crash in the car, so we could now not have the car.
Asked if another car was available, nothing for a week,so now left stranded.

Not sure if it was the truth or he had got a better offer.

Needless to say I wont book with them again.
