they will take euros no problem..
last time I went it was before the euro and you got 3 turkish lira to the cyprus pound..
I have been hearing stories about tour guides on the buses,
doing nothing but ram the cyprus problem down
peoples necks on the trip..
but it is a very nice place to visit :congrats

Thanks for that - will just take Euros then. Funny you should mention the guides as have just heard that they are insisting we have turkish guide for which we have to pay 50 Euros per coach - to put their version across presumably! Still looking forward to it though!

I remember when the trips first started, the CTO
demanded that they have greek guides , it must have changed..
but I have heard stories, of the guide just going on and on about
the turkish invasion, to the point that the people on the bus
just told her to shut up..
why dont they just do proper history

We went on a day trip to Kyrenia and had a Greek guide in the South, all change at Nicosia and a Turkish guide for the North.
I never felt either guide was over the top.
The harbour is lovely and the five finger Mountains awesome.

When we went over on a bus trip in 2005, we had a Greek Cypriot guide, but on passing into the North, a Turkish Cypriot came onto the bus also, who was present until passing through the control point to the South again.

The harbour is a lovely place. Bellapiest(sp?) is a must visit place, not too far from Kerenia, the views are amazing. Found that the Turkish (say Turkish intentionally as they could be from the Turkish mainland or Turkish Cypriots) to be quite subdued by comparison to the Greek Cypriots in the South.

They would take CYP£, Turkish Lira, Euro or UK Sterling when we went, so would not worry about currency too much, just make sure you take your camera and plenty spare batteries for it.

Have a good trip

Brian

Have visited Kyrenia on a few occasions. I find its better if you can make your own way there as going on a "trip" you wont have a lot of time to yourself the guide takes you round Ballapaise(sp) like a bat out of hell then runs you back to the bus- then down to the harbour car park- by the time you go round the Fort and a bite to eat your puffing and panting back up the hill to the coach. Its a long day. If you get the chance to go in your own car take a visit to St Hilarion Castle -- fabulous views worth the climb. Marj
