I had a few bites a week or so ago although the insects hadn't troubled me since we arrived in September. A couple of them swelled up a bit and the bite stick thingy had no effect. Asked Pharmacy advice and he gave me Betafusin which was great, got the swelling down quickly and they've gone away.

Last few days have new ones appear each day and although I have used the cream they look like little tiny blisters. I'm not unduly concerned and am continuing with the cream to see what happens, just wondered if anyone had experienced the same?

hi new me!
my mum and dad live quite high up on the hill in peyia and they say they are having trouble with little black fly things which my dad maintains are biting him!!! he has never been bitten before when in cyprus, my mum is usually eaten alive and they are not touching her!!
he says the bites nip for a while an go red then disappear, is this similar to your original bites!!
just watch the blistered ones are not getting infected!!

No bites at all Helen this year , actually very rarely get bitten . You don't by any chance have a lot of long grass near you do you only our neighbours on the edge of our complex which has all the rubbishy long grass etc do get bitten a lot.

I was plagued by mossie bites last week when it was warmer, ended up buying antihistamines which worked a treat.

Hi Helen,

Are you sure they are bites?

I get tiny little blisters on my hands and feet at this time of the year. They really itch like mad until they pop, then my skin starts to peel. Apparently it is a type of Eczema. (can't remember the correct name for it) I use an ointment that the Doctor prescribed for me.

Sue.

The little black flies are no see ums. Unlike mossie bites they go within 10 minutes & are a nuisance more than anything. Not sure about blisters, sounds more like an allergy. I get tiny blisters as I am allergic to cleaning products. At least thats my story!

keep using the cream anyway!!!
i think betafusin contains fusidic acid( antibiotic) and hydrocortisone(steriod), it should therefore cover any allergy, itch, bacterial infection...so hopefully sort out your bites.....unless they are viral but sounds unlikely!!!
if it doesnt get better get back to the doc you don't want to be laid up when jessica comes!!!

Are you using any suntan lotion? I get these 'blister' type things from suntan lotion that contains alcohol.

I am allergic to alcohol in any form (cough mixture, suntan lotion, food etc etc). Whole different thread and a pain in the preverbial :(

Thanks for the advice everyone... I am continuing with the cream as it seems to be working over a 12 hour period.

I'm sure it's nothing to worry about but that's an interesting point about eczema Sue because I have psoriasis and take medication for that so think I've got the little bleeders covered!! :D

Cleaning fluids ???????/ Mmmmmm given the amount of cleaning I've been doing before the 'arrivals', that's entirely possible as well. Different cleaning fluids to what my skin was used to in the UK and most of them are on my lower arms! Will go to the GP if they don't settle, I'm fine otherwise, just severely excited and can't eat a thing since yesterday

My wife frequently has an adverse reaction to mosquito bites resulting in painful swelling and blistering. The best treatment has been found to be teatree oil, which removes the itching and reduces the swelling. The sooner it is applied after being bitten the better.

I am suprised Verity hasn't posted on this link. She was always being bitten. Her remedy for prevention of bites was Avon Woodland Fresh shower Gel & Body Lotion.I can honestly say that it does work.
Thanks Verity. :clap

Sounds like it could be the cleaning fluids.

Zivania works for me! Or, if I have none - a local whiskey or brandy...

I just stick it on the bites and it stops the itching a treat. Stings like hell though for a few seconds but worth the pain.

I have allergic reactions to bites but I have to take antihistamine everyday for another allergy, so it does keep the worst of the swelling away.

The blisters definitely come from the no see ums - normally, I only get them around October time and usually on the hands (around my fingers) and also my feet. But because the weather became very warm the other week, I think it's brought them out in the early summer too.

I usually use Avon Skin So Soft shower stuff and also the dry oil spray at night. I've started putting on their mozzie repellent lotion for work too as we have some green plants around the office, which seem to attract the bitey beggars
