Post subject:  Easter Shop Days!
As my shop wasn't open this time last year I was wondering if anyone can tell me which days the shops are supposed to be closed over Easter :?

As I know the banks are closed as follows:

25th Apr - Easter Friday
27th Apr - Easter Sunday
28th Apr - Easter Monday
29th Apr - Easter Tues
1st May - LabourDay

So do the shops have to close on these days too :? :?

You HAVE to close on these days, especially the religious ones and there are hefty fines if you do open and you get caught. The only exception are shops in designated 'tourist' areas.

As a shop/store - you do NOT have to close Easter Friday Pete.

You only HAVE to close - Easter Monday and 1 May if my Government booklet is up to date and correct. Oh and Sundays are obviously closed days!

Hope that helps. I know my employer is Open Good Friday - although I won't be in!

Thanks guys, I'm none the wiser now, as you both gave me different answers :smilielol

So if I close Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues & Thurs, I should be ok & as I'm clsed ona Wed also, I will be off for a week :D :D

That was the answer you were looking for Pete. You could always check with the Administration in Paphos - near the old Post Office.

What was the answer I asked for :? Karen said I should close or get fined & Paphosfan said I don't have to close, so which one is correct :? :?

Good Friday is a bank hol - but you can open.

Easter Sunday, Easter Monday and 1 May are bank hoildays which you MUST be closed on.

Easter Tuesday is just a day in Easter and not a bank hol - feel free to open.

This is all accoriding to out cypriot accountant, paperwork from gov depts as regards stores, and the rules our boss is adhering too.

We've decided to Close Friday, Saturday, Monday & Thursday :D :D

So open Tuesday, Friday & Saturday, gives us a break & some time off at last :celebrate

Seems your accountant is correct Paphosfan. Wish I'd known that for sure when I had my shop, according to a customer that apparently was 'in the know' told me that I would be fined if I opened any day over the easter period?? Seems there are a lot of 'experts' here :gossip
