Just seen an advert for New York Bagels and have a sudden craving for cream cheese and smoked salmon on a bagel.
So, does anyone know if bagels are sold in paphos anywhere?

I have not seen a jewish bakery in the whole of cyprus , never mind paphos !.
I think you might be hard pushed to find fresh bagels here..

You can get frozen New York Bagels in the supermarket in Paphos Mall.

The bakery at Debenhams used to sell fresh bagels. I don't remember seeing them recently but this may just be because I didn't notice them and not because they no longer do them. May be worth popping in and having a look/asking.

The bakery opposite Cyta in the main town also used to have fresh bagels occassionally but I haven't been in for a couple of years now so I have no idea if they still do them or not. They didn't use to have them all the time.

Paps at the bottom of Mesogi Avenue sell them. Frozen not fresh.

Thanks for the replies. We found the frozen ones at Paps and also Orphies. Sadly being old and decrepid now I thought the price of said frozen bagels was a tad OTT to say the least.
So a compromise....Bread and cream cheese and smoked salmon ! What a bargain.

This ladies and gentlemen is what you need. Fresh bagels straight from the oven. Not frozen, no preservatives and a damn sight cheaper.

Now get off your backsides and start baking!

Hello Bagel Fans - I know this thread is already rather old, but I only now stumbled across it ... Is anyone still searching for authentic NY Style Bagels? A bakery has opened in Nicosia less than a year ago: Qboo Bakehouse. They bake real, hand shaped, kettle boiled bagels - fresh, several times a day! It is the only bakery in Cyprus that actually makes bagels (even the ones sold as fresh at Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, Debbies Cookies, etc - all use imported, frozen bagel imitations). Qboo Bakhouse is located at Prodromou 51 in Strovolos in Nicosia (opposite the army base) Tel: 22.27.04.77 - facebook page with more details: http://www.facebook.com/QboBakehouse

Qboo Bakehouse Bagels in Nicosia are probably better than any bagel you will find in Israel ... money back guarantee! Even by NYC standards, there probably are only a handful of places in Manhattan with bagels as good!

I'll be the judge of that, if a) I go to Nicosia b) I can get some decent lox.

House cured lox is in the works, but not yet available ... smoked salmon would be the alternative for now.

Oh! Salt Beef on Rye, with mustard please. I am salivating just thinking of it. It beats greasy Kleftico any day
