When I first moved here, I was "reliably" informed that there was a coastal walking path that ran all the way from AG via Coral Bay into Paphos that was owned by the various councils and therefore protected from development and so always available should one feel so moved.

I told this to one of my guests, who today tried the walk from AG to Coral Bay, only to discover that some of the new properties north of Oniro have gardens that extend all the way to the cliff edge.

Does anyone know, am I the victim of an old wives tale [or should that be "old ex-pats tale"?] or are the AG developers appropriating land that doesn't actually belong to them to make their beachfront properties even more desirable

Hi my husband walks this path all the time. The only section fully bocked is an aristo one in coral bay, this has been blocked for years. As to the others, some have left gaps, or you just wander through the end of there garden. They are not allowed to block the path. On saying this there are some where its easier to walk around the front of the property. Julia

Hi, we too frequently walk along this path and we just walk through the end of the gardens. We were told they are not supposed to extend their gardens to the edge as this is public property. Hence they often leave pathways through.

Sue.

Which complex is being referred to. The Korantia one by any chance or another.

No particular complex being mentioned. there is the one villa where the coast path fell in the sea many years ago. You now have to walk around it. the first one after st George's island, stands on its own. Julia

My Guest, indignant at having his walk spoiled, retraced his steps and discovered that one of the new developments "appropriating" the path was owned either by Frangoulides or Theonisi OTD "Palm Forest Villa" [he couldn't tell where one development stopped and another began].

I confess to not being a great walker, but I might just pack a beer and a sandwich and follow the path myself. The idea of a picnic on public land appropriated for private use appeals to my rebellious streak.

"Occupy Peyia" anyone?

Is this spot near to the sea caves, or nearer to onros. Julia

Well husband walked from agios geogious to onros and back this morning. No problems at all in staying on the coast path. Julia

He's obviously a little more sanguine about walking through gardens than my guest was :)
