After a period of time, normally after doing a search or refresh of a web page, it wont locate the page or even let me back to the existing page, home page or what ever. I had recently downloaded IE8 and thought this may have been the problem so i tried firefox but the same happens with FF too. I have tried logging into another forum but I cant even log in. :banghead

I am currently running Vista home premium, zone alarm firewall and avast antivirus, I have checked the settting and they appear OK so maybe one of you gurus can help ??

Daz, I have no idea, although IE7 and PP does give me some probs from time to time.

There may be a techy forum about for this type of think...

I can only recognise one of the issues you have noted ... the refresh/search page problem.

I've noticed that with the newer browsers search pages cannot be "backed" into or refreshed due to the nature of what they do. Screen 1 asks for a search term, Screen 2 processes the results and delivers to Screen 3. Screen 3 doesn't tend to record in its url what was on Screen2 so when you back into Screen3 (from the page you loaded from the search results) it doesn't have any search criteria to load and thus fails. You can normally refresh the same page and get your search results back. Google Chrome browsers displays this page when you try to go back into a search page :

Quote:
Confirm Form Resubmission - This web page requires data that you entered earlier in order to be properly displayed. You can send this data again, but by doing so you will repeat any action that this page previously performed. Press Reload to resend that data and display this page.

As for problems logging into forums is this browser specific ?

I downloaded firefox to see if it'll solve the problem, it was firefox that stopped me from logging on.

I have disabled the Zone Alarm firewall and activated the pre-installed windows firewall to see if that makes a difference.....

Seems like the Zone Alarm was conflicting with Vista - i have run it trouble free for a night without ZA firewall :celebrate ..... as soon as I downloaded it again the problems started.

So if anyone else is having problems..... get rid of the free zone alarm fire wall.
