Tri-band phones don't work in Australia, you need a quad-band for there :D

You've not said what make & model it is Trish :?

Be careful buying off Ebay, as there are people who are getting mobile phones off these mobile phone websites using false credit cards details & then selling them on Ebay, only for the phone company to disable the phone after a month because the bill hasn't been paid, the phone can not then be used at all, not even with a new simcard or PUK code :shock:

Its the new con going on, so before you buy off Ebay, make sure its from a reputable dealer ok :D

Thanks for the warning Pete, but if I buy off Ebay I only ever go for the ones with a long history and good reputation. Can't remember the make or model as it isn't a well known one - well to me it isn't but looks good.

Will post later after I have rechecked it.

Complete rubbish

GSM phones work with no problems in Oz

G = global
S = system
for
M = mobiles

Australia is part of this protocol.

The fourth band (1700/2100) is being developed in America and will be 3GPP

This band is known in the USA as the Advanced Wireless Services (AWS) frequency band.

I have been to OZ many times and you only actually need a dual band phone not even a triband.

Frank got the phone but having problems. Ended up getting a NEC 2.4" touch screen PDA with MP3/4 player - all for £4.99 - trouble is with the charger and usb cable. Must admit have contacted the seller and they have been brilliant with any questions and it was them after researching that found out it is the charger and usb cable. Tried to get another one for myself for free but it didn't work as a really great little phone. The cover for it was more than the phone here in CY. :(
