Hi guys any advice welcome, i am trying to have some legal documents scanned and sent to me via windows live hotmail but it won't let me open them "saying windows live hotmail has blocked some attachments because they appear unsafe" is there anything i can do rather than wait for snail mail. Me being a bit thick when it comes to this sort of thing and i could do with seeing them sooner rather than later. Any advice would be very welcome. Thanks in anticipation Mick.

TM1 - If you know whats in the documents, then it should be safe to open them, Hotmail is only warning you that 'it' finds some of the attachments unsafe, it doesn't mean they are :o

I've had some emails like that before & just opened them without any problems, if its got a virus attached or something else, then your anti-virus should be able to handle it, thats if you have an anti-virus on your pc

I've seen that in Hotmail

Look closer, there's probably a button that says 'open it anyway' or summat similar.

Try that????

Thanks for the advice guys but it still won't let me in the one i did get was jpg format that was just a basic letter its the ones i can't get hold of that matter the others didn't say what format they were in. I was looking for an open anyway button but theres definatly not one there i've been into the help section for email thats no use either. They should be safe there from my solicitor who i've been dealing with for the last three and a half years. Its typical realy these people are supposed to be brainy i gave her a new phone no new address and a new email address in April and these things have been sitting at our old address since June. Have to go to the internet cafe to see if they have a fax if they have i can probably get it done that way. Anyway thanks again for all the assistance Mick.

Mick,
Somewhere near the top of the message there will be something that says something along the lines of hotmail has blocked attachments in the message that may be unsafe. There will also be some blue text that gives you the option to accept the attachments anyway. Just click on the said blue text and you will be able to open the attachments.

Mick

I use 'fax to e mail' which is provided by Inweb
http://www.inweb.co.uk/ip_fax2email.html

it's an 0870 number, which is more expensive to use but for 'once in a while' it doesn't really matter.

I think you can set one up instantly - that may be of some help to you???
