Post subject:  Windows 7 >Windows 10 upgrade

Hi,
I currently run W7 (64 bit), and my browser is Google Chrome; on a PC.
If I were to upgrade to W10 is this still free. and if so from which website (Microsoft's)?
Is it possible to purchase W10 on a CD. in the past I have always had the CD for my
OS, right back to W98?
Any tips on modifications to W10 once installed would be appreciated, especially those
that make it more user friendly, meaning more like W7!!
Any new OS including W10 must be 64 bit so that the various driver softwares (printer etc) will
continue to work.
I still get support updates from Microsoft for W7, but understand this support will be
withdrawn end of next year, in fact some support may already have gone.
Would I be better off considering installing a different OS from Windows altogether, if so
which one?
Any help/comments/advice will be much appreciated. Have you found any problems with W10, if so what were they and how did you solve them?
Amos.

You can get security updates for your Windows 7 PC until Jan. 14, 2020.

Windows 10 will not run some older office programs.

You will have to pay for windows 10.

I don't mind paying for it, if I can buy it on a CD. Do you know if that is possible?
Thanks,
Amos.

Probably buy a legitimate code from somewhere and then download and burn to CD??

Sugar me ... it's 120 GBP

https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/p/windo ... 2517-en_GB

I'd be tempted to see if you can find a cheaper 'upgrade' route ...

Thanks for that J B, most useful. At GBP120 I will wait until the last moment before buying!
