Post subject:  Sony PS3!
My eldest son has just informed me that he'd like a Sony Playstation 3 for his 16th birthday on the 28th April but I've been looking at the prices & these things cost £299GBP which I find very expensive indeed :shock:

On looking at their website, I see they play DVD's & Blu-ray discs in HD quality, so does this mean you need a HD ready TV to use them properly or is a bog standard TV qually as good :? :?

I'd like to get him what he wants as its it 16th but I'm not willing to pay that much, so if anyone knows of a cheaper place to get one, please let me know :D

An HD ready screen will give the better quality playback but isn't a system requirement, should have SCART connector as well for SD playback.

Try to "sell him" the Xbox360 which is a little less now but the PS3 is certainly the long term "must have" next generation console ... best to give him what he wants ;)

Cheers Geoff,

I'd love to give him what he wants as its his 16th BD but I just can't afford that sort of present right now, so I was hoping that the HD thing would be an escape for me :lol: :lol:

Other problem is, if I did get that for him, his brother who is 14 in May will want something similar :roll:

So, I may have to tell a wee porkie me thinks :shock:

They are still pretty pricey at the moment. I bought mine from Carrefour and I think it was £225 or £250 ish.

Yep that was in Cyprus pounds.

You have to be quick to read some postings else they disappear pretty sharpish!
