Hi to anyone in the know

I am considering replacing my 9 year old desktop with a new laptop, I have hundreds of digital photos on Picassa 3.
Is it possible for me to transfer those pictures and any other data from my PC to a laptop via a USB lead?
If so could you give the best procedure, if not could you please advise me how this can be done.

Many thanks in advance

Supposedly, there will be an instruction manual.

But there will be loads of online resources.

Why not backup first onto an external drive.

Depending how many their are you could transfer them to a USB stick then put them on the laptop.

Better still buy an external hard drive and keep all you important information on that, so if a machine fails you have it safe else where.

Contact me if you need help.

By far the easiest way of doing this is to connect both machines to your router and transfer the files over the network.
Another possibility is to use a "bridged usb to usb cable" (google it for info)

When I bought a new computer from SOS computers, all the data was transferred to the new laptop by them. I realise you may be getting a new laptop online though.

As far as I am aware, Picasa just acts as a mirror and shows whatever is on your computer. It is the computer picture files that need transferring.

Good luck. Trev..

Hi all, thanks for the replies
I think I will purchase a portable hard drive and also use that as a back up.
