Hi can anyone tell me what Broad band speed you require to be able to get the i player on my laptop

according to http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/diagnostics TV-HD requires 3500kbps (3.5Mbps) with the better quality TV-SD requiring 1500kbps (1.5Mbps), this is for streaming, if you simply wait for the files to download then open them when ready, then the speed isn't critical as when its done, its done.

A 3Mb connection will work fine with the standard screen but not HD. Your VPN will probably slow up the speed slightly.

Are you using a proxy server? As BBC iPlayer won't work outside the UK without one. Nor will any of the UK on demand services such as ITV Player and 4OD.

A UK VPN takes care of that as the BBC etc will detect a UK IP address.
